As I understand it, the purpose of whatever information analytics are used by Google and others is to try to tailor ad delivery. Magazines and newspapers have been doing the same thing for years, though perhaps not always with the same information. No one tracks or cares about how many times a week YOU go to the bank or what route you take to get there. Anyone who wants to track me is more than welcome to do so. The thing is, the alternative is a string and two tin cans. People aren't willing to ditch their smartphones, most people aren't bothered by the data accumulation aspect.

I'm not really familiar with Yahoo mail but my guess is that the email address presented to you should be an alternate email you provided sometime in the past, to be used at a time like this. If that address is unfamiliar to you, I would fear that it was entered by a hacker. Maybe not but even if it wasn't, sending recovery info to an unknown address wouldn't do you any good. I wonder if Yahoo Customer Care would help you regain control? That or someone who's been through it before will come by and with a better answer. I just got that message too. At the bottom left there was a place to "skip for now" which I did and got into my mail. Pretty sure they can't/won't lock us out of email because of our lack of the right phones. Sandy

check on your firefox with adblock plus that you do have the easylist subscription enabled on it. up top click on tools, adblock plus, filter preferences, make sure you do have easylist there in the filter list checked and also at the very bottom it says allow some non intrusive ads be sure to uncheck that you don't want any ads. edit to add if you do have an ad pop up run your cursor all around the ad and a little tab will pop up saying block click on that and it will put that ad in the blocked list you can do that with any ads, adblock plus will then add them to your list.
