In firefox if you click tools at the top then add/ons you will see a list of add/ons installed one of those apparently is causing a problem if your not using any add/ons then uninstall them you will see the uninstall option there. I just want to make sure your not running fiefox in safe mode all the time.

Thankis, PoohBear for answering. I have high speed access. I did reboot, and unplugged for a couple of minutes. It didn't seem to change anything. I have done a little more looking, and this is what I have found: I am recciving and sending emails ok. In OE,I went to tools, accounts and see that I have three accounts. They are Janet Type- mail Connection- any available mail.charter.net Type- mail Connection- LAN pop3 Type- mail(default) LAN The problem seems to be with the third account pop3. Under properties, servers for this account it simply says pop3 or smtp, instead of pop.charter.net, or smtp.charter.net like it says in the account Janet. My question, is it ok to delete the third account titled pop3? When I get the error message above, there is a box that flashes on the screen that indicates it is checking all three accounts, and the first two are ok. The screen flashes on so fast I had to close and open several times to read it. As you can tell,I am not very knowledgable about all this. Thanks, Janette

See that is where a problem may or may not occur I'm not a 100% here especially if it originally came with its own recovery disk. That being said I do not know what other options you have (To set up Xp now, press enter 2) You could try this it will wipe the disk and should reinstall xp, and this will take a good bit of time and you will need service pack2 unless it is already included on the disk you have. Then install a free virus program, firewall, and your internet software. How old is the pc? Let see if others chime in here also.

Daisey just removing programs will not make your computer run faster unless the hard drive is over filled. To see how much free space is on your hard drive click Start then click My computer. A window will appear and you will see your hard drive listed with the total size and the amount of free space. For the computer to run efficiently you need 25% or more free space. This allows you 'swap file' to operate at it's peak. A few questions. What anti virus are you using? What anti spyware programs are you using and do you keep them up to date and run them every couple of weeks? What firewall are you using? What operating system are you using? How much memory does the computer have? To check how much memory click Start, click Control Panel, click System and right near the bottom of the new window you will see how much RAM is installed. To start improving things you could download and install Ccleaner which is linked below. Run without changing any settings. This will remove all the bits and pieces left behind over time and give you more hard drive space. Then you should do a defrag. To defrag the computer click Start, click All programs, slide up and click Accessories, slide over and down to click System Tools then click Disk defragmenter. Once there click to start the defrag, you can walk away for perhaps an hour now whie it does a clean up and tidies all the files.
