I don't recall that you mentioned this detail. It will cost you nothing to check it. You did ask for help. The only power transfer is between metal drive disc on the crankshaft and the rubber tire on the driven wheel then between the liner on the inside of the driven wheel and the drum that it rides on. There is no pressure plate. The fiber disc is, as I said previously, simply a spacer NO power is transmitted via this part. There is a Mirad of things that could cause your problem from sheared thru bolt in one of the hubs to worn out shifter yoke or grease on the drum where the liner runs. Things do wear out and slip adjustment. I am afraid you will have to do more checking to pin point it. Might start by standing the mower on its' rear standards with shifter in neutral, grasp both wheels alternately push and pull on them then one at a time Wheels should feel connected to each other when both are turned and driven wheel should spin. Holding one wheel while turning the other should make held wheel want to turn backwards and driven wheel spin. While there check the position of the stop for the shifter yoke, check for worn dips in the shifter yoke where the roller on the center chain case runs back and forth to change speeds also to raise and lower the center chain case with the rubber tired driven wheel on it. This should be basically flat, no deep hollows in it, check for broken or weak pressure spring on the shifter yoke for starts. Walt Conner

why don't you just install a distro of linux on it and just use that? running by live cd is fine but it will run very very slow because it is only using the resources of the cd drive. Try one of the live cds in it if it runs good and looks good then go ahead and install it you can always just wipe it off and do something else later. My main pc runs Mepis linux, that is what I am using right now. You have very little to worry about running linux concerning infection.

Jane you cannot copy an installed prgram to another computer. However if you go Here and download the free program then go here to get the latest definitions. Copy these to a thumb drive or external drive. Install the program then double click on the latest definitions (your second download) and it will update Malwarebytes for you and you are good to go.

I wouldn't worry about the install disks at all. Someone might want them. As far as the ones with personal info on them, do you have a good strong magnet around the house? Even refrigerator magnets can wipe out data on disks. I remember one guy who came into the store with a bag full of software he bought at a fairground sale. He couldn't get the disks to load. I checked them out and they were partially erased. As I emptied the bag, there were three refrigerator magnets in there advertising the place he bought the software from! I'd run a good strong magnet over the ones with data, then if you really want to be a bit more secure, format the disk and then copy something of no value onto it to overwrite anything that may be on there. Make it much more difficult to recover. You can do this a few disks a night while you're watching tv or something or even while you're surfing.
