Persistent Java update message

For the second time, a full-screen message shows up and cannot be closed other than by shutting down the computer.
"Free JAVA Security Update" "Version 7 Update 21- Critical". Looks legit. But 21 is not the latest update. And the window cannot be closed nor minimized. I am not happy about this!
I went to Programs to just delete all Java. Can't find them. Java creates some problems according to some online discussions.
So what do you suggest?

Look in your uninstall programs for Oracle Java or used to be named Sun Java. Or look in your program files off the start menu for them too & should see an uninstaller there. Just uninstall java and forget about it unless you need it ....

Here is a link that might be useful: Manual download page to newest version of Java

Sounds like malware to me. What antivirus do you use?

May need to do a restore, go back to a date before this first happened.
