Windows XP home W/ AVG FREE. Question? What are the A-B-C's of disabling/turning off the Auto-update of AVG free? Seems it wants to update at the most inopportune time and slowing down my slow computer even more.Don't want to disable AVG, just the auto update feature HELP! Grady

You didn't say what version you currently have, but they are very close to being all the same.

Open the AVG interface. Locate Options and click on it. Click on Advance Settings. In the appearing left pane click on the + for Schedules. The access for Program Updates and Definition Updates will appear on the tree and are independent. Select your target. The appearing window will allow you to select the time for your update or allow you to opt out of the automatic privilege.

Since my system is on all the time the Program Updates are configured for 1:00 a.m. and the Definitions are configured for 5:00 a.m.
