Help me get rid of Babylon!

I have downloaded several apps through Amazon for my Kindle Fire and apparently Babylon Search comes with one of them. It has replaced my home page, and even when I change my homepage back it fires up Babylon the next time I reboot.

I don't want it or need it, it isn't on the list of programs to remove, how do I make it all go away?

It is horrible and just digs in, malwarebytes will remove it on the pc but I don't know what to suggest for the kindle fire.
Have you gone to settings then applications then manage applications click on the app name in the options and select unistall. If it is listed that might do it.
You might try installing Astro file manager to see the files easier and weed it out there.
Or unistall all the apps you installed and got this from. I always suggest getting one app at a time and make sure you have no problem with it before adding another that way you know the culprit.

Were these apps from the amazon store?

Carpet Burrweed "Soliva sessilis) is considered a noxious weed with no benefits. It is a winter annual that dies back in the summer after forming seeds, and not watering your lawn leaves the soil open for the seeds to sprout when the rains come. Humans tend to be the major source of the spread of the seeds. The spines are attached to the seeds. Germination begins early and seedlings develop rapidly, usually faster than the grass it grows in. Since you don't water your lawn, and the weed likes compacted soil and sun, you might consider either sheet-mulching your entire lawn area (shading it out), or rototilling the whole thing, then when you see the first small plant, keep the top few inches of soil loosened. And keep doing it (preventing the compaction it likes). Germination starts with the first heavy rains of autumn, so you would need to keep on top of it when you need to, not when you can get around to it (too late). Scientists seem to think that there is a fairly low carry-over of seed from year to year, so if you could eliminate the seed production for one year (about Feb to July or so), the existing seeds may not live long enough to keep germinating year after year. If you want to keep your lawn, you should probably ferilize it with compost or manure, overseed it well, water it, and cut it higher so it can help shade out the burrweed. Or you could fertilize with natural fertilizers (compost and manure), then lay sod over it. The microbial action of the compost and manure could help the seeds to rot, with the help of the sod in keeping out the light. It can be removed manually in late winter and early spring, but if you wait until the seeds form, you're wasting your time. This weed is rather famous here in WA, as we get a lot of rain for 8-9 months, then nothing all summer, producing the conditions it prefers. 8-( Sue

In a repot, I will flip the plant upside down, bareroot and wash off everything. No less than 2 days later, there's a web. Or today, I put my tray of seeds outside....a cookie tray. Bringing them in, I found 8 web strings...no spider. I can appreciate balance....and I'm not against spiders taking up this or that corner. I leave them alone. I have one, aptly named Charlotte (3 pts for originality, I know) that resides at the top corner of my storage cabinet out there, I'm fine with that....but these spiders shooting webs from ceiling to plant, roof to roof, pot to pot, beam to beam....wow. I bought a bbq lighter just to burn off the webs. A quick run over with the lighter doesn't do anything to the plants and eradicates the web in a millisecond. I do look ridiculous doing this 5-6x a day but hell if I care. I primarily have white spiders, brown garden spider looking things, and some green ones. At this point, I don't care what kind they are...I just want them off my patio. I feel ya, original poster. :)

Patrick, i call them water mocassins, but in reality they are cotton mouths. i do see a lot of people refer to ALL snakes as either a rattler or a mocassin, but i usually know the difference. :) i have 2 90 pound labs so they probably run off most of the snakes. i cannot stand cats, so i really do not want to go there. as to the catch and release or catch and kill, i prefer they be moved elsewhere if possible, but either one is really fine with me. i am not worried about non-posionous snakes, although they probably would cause my wife to hurt herself if she came up on one. hopefully this weekend i can get some more shrubs removed or shaped and burn a large limb pile. i think the biggest attraction for the snakes right now is the frogs around my house. hopefully i can get rid of the bugs, which will make the frogs go elsewhere, which in turn will cause the snakes to look elsewhere for food. i do not know if i mentioned it earlier, but both snakes had recently eaten rather large frogs. that is probably why they did not run off before i approached, they had their bellies full and just did not feel up to moving!

which browser and windows version? First run an updated malwarebytes free scan let it clean what it finds Then run updated superantispyware free scan ditto above If you still see any of it get and install Revo uninstaller free, find any references to babylon and remove. In firefox, tools, addons, make sure it is not included in the list, If it is left click it, disable, remove, restart firefox. Do the same for the plugins. Go into tools, options, reset your home page, where you see the search engines

Owbist, I read several of the uninstall options but there is no icon on my toolbar nor is it in "uninstall programs".

Raven, it isn't a problem on the Kindle, but Amazon is where I think it came from, I haven't done any downloading on the computer except from Amazon for books and apps to be sent to the Kindle, all from Amazon.

Forgive me, I am in grade school when it comes to this stuff, please walk me through your suggestions. I do know for sure it isn't in the add/remove programs list.

Okay so let's make sure we are on the same page, I am understanding you to say that the babylon is on the kindle fire and you got it from apps you got from the Amazon Store is that correct or do you have the babylon on your pc? Not sure how we got from kindle to pc here?? Are you not using the kindle itself to get the apps?
If the babylon problem resides in the pc then run an updated malwarebytes free scan. You can search here for links and instructions, I have provided them several times. I am not at my pc right now.

If its Internet Explorer... look in add-ons and change the search provider and mark it.. dont let others change it.

Raven, it is only on my laptop, NOT in the Kindle, but I believe that downloading the apps from Amazon is where it came from. Sorry for the misguidance!

Mikie, I use Firefox.

Kudzu, I will do that if we can't fix it here.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (Win) - Detecting and Removing Malware
update it and run full scan let it delete what it finds you will need to reboot if it tells you to. Tell me what it finds and if babylon is gone.
