Thats a semi tuff one without knowing what you have for memory and processor and how big these files are... In general: Might want to Right click MyComputer, choose Properties. Choose the Advanced tab on top. Choose the Settings button under Performance. Choose the Advanced tab on the top. Look down at Virtual Memory and read that and you can click the settings a look at that. Many people with 1gb or under memory will set virtual memory to 1.5x actual physical installed memory. On both the initial size & the maximum size. That may stop windows from resizing it. If there's a noticable slowdown doing normal computer usage then you might want to read up some after setting it back to let windows handle it. Photo's and printing handling do use a lot of bytes. Perhaps you might consider adding additional memory to your computer if you frequently on a regular basis have this problem.

My Mum had terrible problems on statins ... she had so many side effects but taken over a period of 6 years many of them were simply put down to 'ageing'. She got dreadful muscle aches to the point where she could barely walk and couldn't sleep at night for the pain - the Dr prescribed her pain killers and sleeping pills. One of her lower legs and both feet would swell badly. She couldn't find shoes to fit and had to wear mens slippers for about 3 years - the Dr prescribed meds for water retention. She got progressively more forgetful and confused not to mention very depressed - the Dr prescribed anti-depressants. So to counter-act the effects of ONE pill, she was taking 4 other pills and yet still getting worse by the day. In the early hours of one morning while she was listening to talk back radio the subject of statin drug side effects came up and the radio station switchboard lit up like a Christmas tree with people calling in with their experiences. Mum went back to her Dr and told him she was going off the statins and within 2 days she was feeling better. However, the muscle damage to her legs has been permanent so for those of you having the muscle aches & pains PLEASE be careful. We found alot of information on the web about the side effects so it pays to educate yourself about them. The Drs here in NZ just seem to dish these pills out like lolly-water especially to the elderly. My Dad (86) who was on quite a low dose of statins and is as fit as a fiddle (still plays golf twice a week) stopped taking them after Mum had pinpointed what was causing her problems. He'd had achey legs (again put down to old age) for some time but improved as soon as he stopped taking them. And the scarey part is that his cholesterol readings were slightly UNDER the so called healthy range ... but the Dr prescribed the meds as a 'precautionary' measure! Sheesh, don't get me started hahaha!

I'll get started on making a top, set the blocks aside and forget what I was even making! So, I've started labeling the blocks with the quilt name, where I found the pattern and put them in that safe place. Then in a couple years when I come across it again and Google the name, I might remember. lol When I finish a quilt top to send for donation, I'll pin a little note on it to make sure if something happens to me, the kids know where to send it and all to be donated tops go in the same container. Since I make mostly scrappy quilts, I don't need to keep track of fabric and designers, but I do keep track of where the quilts and quilt tops go. But, if the computer crashes, oops!

Your new PC has solid state storage instead of the more traditionally common hard drive with a spinning platter. That's a good feature. This is the more technologically modern approach and is now more common and available for more reasonable prices for manufacturers and consumers than before. These are much faster than hard drives and I'm sure this PC comes on quickly when started from being off. The tradeoff is because solid state is more expensive than traditional hard drives, "standard equipment" is a smaller size. You have a 128 GB (gigabyte) "drive". My 14 inch PC, about 5 years old, has a 500 GB hard drive but it's very slow. What you have would be excellent for travel and casual use. As for something to store photos on, etc., the space may be limited (depending on how much you have) In this case, because the hard drive is solid state, it's been configured with a small "virtual memory". With my cutting board example, think of what you have as a smaller (and slower) additional cutting board you can use just to hold what was moved off of the main board because it's needed for something else. On your PC, a small portion of the "hard drive" has been set up for this task as virtual memory, a cache or swap file, to speed up operations. For others who find their PC gets bogged down, you can set up your own virtual memory without opening up the PC. Get a fast SD card or thumb drive of at least 4 GB and configure it using the WIndows Ready Boost feature. For PCs with inadequate RAM, it can help.
