Acrobat 9 Standard - recurring registration

Looking for assistance-
Have Adobe acrobat 9 standard running on WIN XP SP3.
Each time a .pdf file is opened, it asks me to register the Acrobat software-

I have registered this software (several times!)

If I hit "Do Not Register", it asks if I am sure-then leads back to registration.
If I click "Not Now", it will disappear, only to return next time-
If I click "Register Now", and fill in the info, it thanks me for registering, then disappears, only to re-appear next time a .pdf is opened.

There has got to be a way to get this to stop!
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

When you have time take a look at the forum below as it may help. Some threads look dated though.

You might want to try Adobe's support forums, folks there might be more familiar with the problem.
