Very strange tablet problem

I wanted to learn about tablets so I bought a 'cheapie" Proscan 7" one just to 'learn on'. It uses Android. I think I learned it is no good! I got it working fine but couldn't get on the internet. Acquaintance who owns a computer store came over and got the internet working just fine. He put it down, left, I then picked it up and got absolutely nothing. It won't even turn on. I charged it up, nothing. I'm not asking this person to come back as I've already overused his help. Before I dump this thng, does anyone have any idea what happened???? Thanks!

If you can't turn it on, how do you know it's still charged? Maybe you left the wifi on and it drained the battery. Have you tried hooking the tablet up to the wall charger and then seeing if you can turn it on? If that fails, it could be a bad battery, or it could have died. Tablets at this price point are low on the quality control scale. Are you still under warranty?

As for the Internet access, reviews of this tablet don't give it great marks on connectivity. If you can get it to turn on, try being in the same room with the router to see if that changes things. (You do know how to go into the settings and turn the wireless on, right?)

Lastly, if you want a tablet at a reasonable price but without the potential for the types of problems you are having, consider the Kindle Fire. At under $200 bucks you can have something fun, fast, and reliable.

thanks for your help. I can plug it into the charger and it shows a picture of a battery that was 'filled' after I charged it. I then took it right next to the router and nothing happens.

What did you mean about going into the settings toturn the wireless on. I haven't a clue on tech things!

If you are seeing leaf nodes develop, and the plant passes the scratch test, it sounds like you have a live one. The leaves, however were probably already goners when you bought them, and so are doing what dead camellia leaves do- look fine for a bit then gradually dry out, turn brown (or yellow) and eventually fall off. Camellias do everything verrry slowly, but if you have leaf nodes, you should soon see leaves- spring is the season for camellias to put out new foliage. Don't expect your camellia to look great for at least another year or two- it has had a bad shock to the system. Although you sound like you've given it a home that it should do well in, it needs to first get its root system situated in a new location, and then get serious about leafing out and then flowering. First things first, but if you're seeing signs of life, you just need to be patient and let it get on with its recovery from the cold damage. You might be tempted to fertilize in the spring, but organic matter like compost or cottonseed meal or liquid seaweed might be a better choice. What I would avoid doing is giving the plant anything with much nitrogen- it needs to spend some time getting its roots established in its new home, and nitrogen won't help with that and may undermine the process. Some mulch can help the plants stay evenly moist and keep the pH on the acidic side- do you have access to pine straw/bark or another good organic mulch? Going by what you've said, the plants should recover, but a little patience will be needed.

Your just going to kill the plants with all that unnecessary effort of adding calcium, limestone, oven baking, etc. Start with clean pots and good quality STORE BOUGHT potting soil. Its already got enough of the necessary components in it, unless you can't afford to get some soil. NEVER use soil dug from the ground. Baking old soil in an oven does not help it in any way, except make a stinky kitchen, and kill off any benefical microbes.. With good quality potting soil and a little watering, it should be fine. Bugs get into soil all the time, and even for that, if the plants are healthy enough, they should do just fine without extra effort or an attempt to 'sterilize' the soil. Only an hour of sunlight is not acceptable for basil to grow, Nothing you can do will get it to stay vertical. My basil is started from seeds indoors and doesn't grow vertically very well, as its always under plant lights at about 18 hours per day. Once planted outside, it does grow nice and straight. The watering varies with the kind of soil as well as the pot size. Adding calcium or any other item is not useful for the plants health. Some herbs like cilantro do quite well, provided its cool, and with minimal direct sunlight. Dill is also a good plant to grow in a pot. About the only choices for basil would be the very short bush type that seems to do better in less sunlight. The basil I grow gets to almost 5 foot tall, but I also grow a type that is bushy at about 1 foot tall. Water only when the leaves show signs of wilting due to the lack of water. Its better to underwater than to overwater. I can't tell you the exact amount of water to use as I don't know the pot size or what kind of soil it has. Some potting soils have additives that are for 'moisture control'. These soils work well for high heat areas and would help to retain some water. I use this kind of soil for my flowers in hanging baskets. If the soil totally dries out every day, it may need a bigger pot. There is also a polymer granule that can soak up water and turns to a gel. This stuff is great for places where there is too much drying out of regular soils.

I just tried on my Acer Iconia a500 w/Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) I was using Google Chrome for my Browser and once I found a Video had no problem watching it. Is the Flash Player App installed on you tablet? Do you have it associated with the browser you were using when you had the problem? I would do as Akash Rajgure suggested and try a different Player, surely won't hurt.

If you look around the outer edges there will be a small on/off button. Press that to bring up a menu perhaps

Take a look here for some tutroial help. there are a couple of Youtube videos you might start with to get an idea of how to proceed.

Did you read the manual? That should help a lot with basic questions.

First of all, since you saw the battery icon, that's a good sign. Now, do you have the screen with the icons showing? If not, you need to press and hold the on-off button for 3 seconds or so until the home screen comes on. After that, you should look for an icon that says "Settings," tap it, and look for the wifi listing to see if it is off or on.

Then re-post here about what's going on. A little more detail from you would be useful.

The manual is useless. I do know how to turn it on and get the home page. I've done it many times. But now it doesn't even turn on even after pressing/holding, doing what I"m supposed to do. I get nothing! It's not turning on at all.

Hooray! It suddenly started working. I just did the same 6thing I always do so I don't know what happened. But thanks everybody for your help.

Reviews of that tablet say one of the cons is the wireless antenna doesn't have the range of the higher end tablets. Mary
