Thunderbird will not reset password

Have used Thunderbird for years. All of a sudden, it tells me invalid user or password. I click on reset password, and no matter what I put in, it will not accept a new one. Any ideas on this puzzlement?

Had you just upgrade to v5.0 when this started?

ok you sound like you have much more than one thing going on if firefox is gone too. You could have an infection if so it could have changed your password and settings. Try running an updated malwarebytes full scan let us know the result

Some servers want you to identify yourself with your full email address, others only want your account name (the portion of your email address before the @). Try it both ways and see if one or the other works for you.
