I'd run Firefox in safemode to see if that stops it "Firefox Safemode" not to be confused with Windows SafeMode. See link seen.

I had the same problem and read that it can be cause by blocking to many cookies. I finally reset FF to it's default settings and it stopped. I still block cookies and there is a long wait for GW to load, but no message. There is someplace where you can turn off script warnings, but think that was in IE.

Well, as soon as I used Firefox Safemode the notice stopped, but I got ads at the top of the page I was opening. I have very few add-ons or extensions.

On the same sort of note, now almost every time I open a page with Chrome browser, the page crashes. I have tried disabling various add-ons with no luck. This never happened prior to the current version of Chrome. But the JavaScript Application error has happened with FF for a long time. I hate to go back to IE, but maybe I will.

Maybe it's time to retire this XP computer and just use Windows 7.

If you are giving up on FF you might as well reset it to the default, you don't have anything to loose. You will have to set your preferences again. This page tells you about it and directs to setting to default.

With XP nearing it's end of life next April, upgrading to Windows 7 is a great idea. It took me forever to talk my Mom into upgrading. She, like all of us, has a fear of not only change, but spending money she doesn't have. She was taking her old computer to the shop at least once a month and the money she spent in one year could have bought her a really nice computer.

My brother-in-law gave Mom a Windows 7 laptop for Christmas the year before last and she had her "new toy" mastered in a few weeks and is very happy. I'm not going to point out much money she is saving now that she doesn't have her computer in the shop every month.

A machine with XP on it could be nearing it's end of life from a hardware standpoint, but the operating system on it will work into perpetuity. XP is not nearing end of life in the same sense, the extended support date you cite is really not meaningful to any user.

If Firefox is acting oddly, try a different browser.

The preceding post also mentions "upgrading" to Win 7. I presume what's implied is to get a new PC, because to install Win 7 or 8 on an old machine would likely be a waste of effort and money.

I do have a Windows 7 laptop, but I still prefer using my desktop which is XP. I'm much more comfortable sitting in my nice desk chair and using a regular keyboard. I'd love a desktop with Windows 7, but I don't have room for another computer or even storage space if I keep this one, too. I have no intention of getting Windows 8 because at my age I'm wanting to take things easy, not get frustrated with a computer. I keep thinking of putting Ubuntu on the old desktop and using that until it gives up the ghost, but that might lead to frustrations, too. I've loved fiddling with computers, but now there are other things I want to spend my time doing. I have a smart phone, a couple of tablets and an e-reader, so I really have more gadgets than I have time. Enjoy photography, too, so we'll just see what develops. Thanks, all.

You probably know that it's easy to connect your keyboard, your monitor and your mouse to the laptop. Once you turn it on at your desk in your nice desk chair, you'll use it as if it's a desktop and never give another thought to what it's all connected to.

Grandms, I also prefer my desk top over my lap top. As long as desktops are made that is what I will have.

I don't need any system portability so my desktop is just fine. With computer use at work and the system here at home the last thing I would want to do is drag a unit around. When I get away somewhere I do just that.....get away. No addiction here.

I only bought my laptop for watching movies in hotels and on cruises in the evenings. I am not much of a partier and TV on a ship is not so good.
