Trouble with laptop's mouse

Hello,

I have to press really hard before it moves. Could it be hard to press on since I used a few alcohol pads to wipe the whole laptop down? Thanks so much!

Is it a mouse or a touch-pad?

It's a touch pad. When I want to right-click, I have to press like three times really hard before anything happens. It feels very "stiff" for lack of a better word. Thanks for trying to help me.

It sounds like a "mechanical" problem, like some dirt or lint may be stuck under the pad.

But check the "sensitivity" setting in case that's somehow been changed.

Open Control Panel, then Hardware and Sound, then Mouse...try changing the sensitivity setting there.

Otherwise, you may need to open the pad to clean under it, and I'll leave it to more knowledgeable people to tell you how that's done!

Ha ha, that does not include me. However if you visit Youtube and type in something like 'clean under laptop touchpad' you will find lots of film clicks. Would work better by adding make and model of course.

shaxhome- thank you so much! I did what you suggested and it works so much better!
Owbist- thank you so much for the youtube info. I shall try and remember that it's there to help me out with other things besides listening to and watching music videos :-)
