Right they are 2 different things, Google is a search engine that never needs updating. Chrome is a browser by Google and it does need updating but cancan be set up to update automatically. While you are in Chrome click on the the 3 dots in upper right hand corner and go to settings, then Extensions. You should fine it in there. Disable it.
