Quick time software

I have Windows XP.

Is Quick Time part of a Windows program. For some reason the icon appeared on my task bar some time ago. I ususally use Media player.

Is this something I can delete?

That's an Apple program. Maybe installed with a video/movie you downloaded?

You can remove it, but it may be needed to view whatever it is you downloaded...

I personally use VLC Media Player instead, but others here have other preferences.

I did have Quick Time once, but kept getting updates and new suggested downloads I didn't want/need, so uninstalled it.

You can just leave it if you want as it may be useful for playing some videos. If you want to remove it, though, you have to uninstall it, not simply delete the icon.

I would not use quick time player there is an alternative that is a better choice. QuickTime Alternative 3.2.2 the only thing that requires quicktime are some .mov files and itunes you can usually get by with out it unless you come across a site that specifically says it has to have quick time but that alternative is a better way to go. so you can go to add remove and get rid of it.

chemocurl, As I've posted before, it's a Windows function. You can tile any open programs as shown in the illustration above. It doesn't have to be only FF. The illustration above shows windows tiled vertically (side-by-side for Windows Vista). The other was is tiled horizontally (stacked for Windows Vista). Well frie ds the search is over. I took a friend with me at lunch to see the exotica and a couple whitish gold granites in person. She agreed the exotica was impressive but with the photo of my kitchen colors and my interest in creating a light airy look...she confirmed the *bad boy* would not b the best fit. So I have bought colonial gold exta which is white gold and a little rusty warm. Brown. It is more neutral. .and yes more boring...but although I pouted at giving up the gorgeous exotica I admit to a sense of relief. Marji...u were right. Hoping this will look as good on my counter as I think!

Historically QT has been quite a resource hog. If you ever have a need for it consider Quick Time Lite. It is a trimmed down version of QuickTime that contains only the essential components needed for playing QuickTime content. DA

I deleted that 2 years or more ago and have not found any reason to bring it back. It has drivers running in the background

I deleted it a long time ago. ITunes. always wants to download it when I update it, but I don't let it and every thing works fine.

QT can be a tough little bugger to remove completely. I recommend REVO in the advance mode to do so.

Also, if the time ever comes where you must use QT there is a lite version which is much less a resource hog, and more system friendly.

When I had my computer worked on last year, I noticed a an Apple software on my computer.

I am sure had a new oung man work on my computer. As, I have been going there for years and it has only been the owner and one other knowlegable man in there.

When I took my computer home nothing worked right and I had to take it back. I am sure this is when it was added also. Looking around on the computer I noticed it was a humungous file.

I guess I will just leave it alone. By the end of the year I will be upgrading to another computer and new windows software.
I am hoping they get the windows 8 changed by then or I will go with windows 7. I really don't want to as the support will end with it in a few short years.

By year end Windows 8 will have been out 2 years, why go with 7 which will be really old?

There is talk that the Start button is coming back which seems the biggest single difference. The start page is fine once you get used to it and learn how to add, remove and sort the icons.

Windows 9 is positioned for release in 18 months. Microsoft's release schedule efficiency brings that estimate into question, but you never know.

It has been reported that an optional Windows 8 update is coming to restore the Start button for those who feel a need for it.

Don't you need Quicktime for ITunes? I have XP but also have an Ipod and have ITunes on my computer. I thought Quicktime was necessary for both.
