Click Start, Control panel, System, Hardware, Device manager. Now look for yellow exclamation marks or question marks. These indicate problem areas where the drivers are missing or corrupt perhaps. As Zep notes you need to click on the motherboard on the left side of your screen in SIW and the data will appear on the right side. Grab the make and model of the motherboard and Google for drivers. Try to go to the mobo maker's site rather than any third party site. More chance of getting the right drivers that way. You can also look on the back of your tower, if the CAT5 network cable connects beside the USB ports then you have onboard LAN.

I would go to the HP site enter the model number and go to that page to see if perhaps they have released a vista upgrade for that printer if you find nothing there I would enter into a chat there with an HP tech and ask them if there is a vista upgrade available for that printer, they may have to email it to you. If they do not ask them if they know of any generic drivers available that would work. At the driver sites online I am finding version 3.5 is that the driver version you have? it may be they did release a newer one than the original that might work. A word of caution if you do download a driver from anywhere be sure to right click and run your virus scanner on that file before opening it on your pc. In addition I have found this blog article that seems to work going by replies on forums I looked at. Definitely seems worth a try. Sumerday you can get a network card anywhere quite reasonable. The link below is for Wintronic and they have stores in Stoney Creek and St. Catharines. I like the guys in the St. Catharines store, very helpful. But the Stoney Creek store seems less friendly and whilst I know what I am doing without help it is always nice to have comments made to aid you if needed.. The St. Catharines store is on Ontario St perhaps a mile south of the QEW. The Stoney Creek store is on the northwest corner of Centennial and Barton. The way that I finally got those particular security updates (KB2656353 and KB2656370) to install was that I went into my Programs (in Control Panel) and uninstalled the .NET Framework programs. Then I went back to Windows Updates and re-installed the .NET Framework programs and their associated security updates. Everything installed without a problem. Apparently there was some issue with Windows Defender related to these particular updates. The clients anti-virus was not up-to-date and after getting MSE installed and updated, I performed the above-mentioned process. I did this for a client who was using the Windows Vista OS.
