marie- I have four browsers installed on my computer: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, and Chrome. None of them interfere with one another, even when several of them are simultaneously open. I don't know why you are having some of the problems you describe, but you shouldn't be worrying about having to choose between Firefox and Internet Explorer. They are each discrete programs, just like Word or Notepad are discrete programs. Something else is going on here, or you have accidentally made some unintended changes to Internet Explorer, but it should have nothing to do with having two browsers installed.

Check the postings on the link below to see if any of those help. My wife's computer behaves in a similar fashion and I made an odd discovery. She uses IE7 and if we open one instance of IE7 then click links in emails or on web pages then she could open those pages in a new window, not a tab of IE7. These are the exact instructions that I copied from that site: Open Internet Explorer. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. On the Security tab, click Internet. Click Custom Level. (Fig.1) Scroll down to Active scripting. ****Click Enable (or Prompt). (Fig.2) Click OK. Click Yes. Click OK Just tried it and it didn't work for me. When I got to where I was supposed to click "enable active scripting or prompt" (see above asterisks in above instructions), I saw that my laptop was already set on Enable". So, I clicked on "Prompt", finished the directions, closed and then reopened . . . to a nightmare of boxes that continually popped up asking me if I really wanted to do something. I unfortunately can't remember what it was now, but no matter whether I clicked on "yes" or "no", they continued to pop up. I had to shut down the computer, then get back on, go all the way back to that place in the instructions, click off "prompt" and click on "enable" once again. Turned off the computer, turned it back on again . . . and now I'm back to the script error PIA. I am so frustrated!

for those with adblock plus on your firefox if you have not added the easylist subscription to your adblock you NEED to do that it has the list of all the known ads to block for those that have it and are having issues be sure you update your easylist. Here is where you get easylist it only takes one click to add it on. Add EasyList to Adblock Plus click where you see that text on the page.
