Hi all! Newbie here... My house has a Twilight Heat-n-Glo, that's the 2-way fireplace, one side outdoors, other inside. I want to access the logs to have them removed and replaced with fire glass. I have looked at the manual, but cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to access the inside of the darn thing... Any simple guidance? Even if I just wanted to open to clean the glass inside, I have no idea how to do it... Any help is appreciated.

It's a hatch. You'll need a ladder. Might be there instead of pull-down stairs b/c it was built cheap, or the ceiling might be too high, or the space might not be big enough for pull-down stairs. We have one in part of our house b/c the space isn't big enough, and 9'7" was higher than the vast majority of pull-down stairs will go.

I'm thinking that I'm going to have the carpenter pull it out (and hope it doesn't wreck the walls. I think the original contractor glued the trim) and I think I will have the floor done first. I'm not sure they can add an access panel to the cabinet because it's 19 inches and the plumbing is at about 25 inches and it has a back to it so I'm not even sure this cabinet can be made to work. Might have to start over or figure out how to put it in, in such a way that it could be pulled out.....

OK, so I looked through the installation manual for your fireplace and the mistake that has been made is the black metal (access panel) should have been covered with drywall. Drywall can cover all of the black metal on the bottom and sides of this fireplace. The top must be covered with a non combustible material, which apparently is supplied with the unit. Did you install this yourself? Anyways, cut a piece of drywall and cover up that access panel as long as all of the wiring has been done. You can always access the junction box from above by removing the logs and burner. This is mentioned in the installation manual. Hope this helps.
