need help with pictures taken off smart phone

I have a Samsung Galaxy S II which I send pictures from my gallery via my wireless router to my HP PC. I have done this before and had the same problem with the pictures and actually stumbled onto the solution but can't remember what the solution was! lol My pictures appear on my PC in a zip file and all the pictures need to be rotated but the form that they are in are un-editable. As I remember it was as very simple and easy solution. Any help would be appreciated!

You need to extract the individual pics from the .zip file? Izarc or 7zip will do that...if your version of Windows won't (you didn't say which version you're using hint...hint...hint). As for rotating the images, Irfanview will do that and much more.

Do you have a memory card in the phone and are the photos on that? If so do they do the same when you put the memory card directly into the computer or card reader? My photos open with the windows photo viewer in windows 7 and I can just rotate without extra software. Mary

Ah, I'm sorry to hear your husband has to face such challenges. My niece has CP and she is continuing to go through surgeries that may allow her to walk- she says thank goodness for the internet! Anyhow, have you ever considered walkie talkies? My parents live in a cell-phone poor area and they like to walk in the woods a lot so they got walkie talkies. They also use them to communicate between barn and house. Just another possible solution for when you have to replace your phone someday. Cheers!

Bragu, that might be me breathing heavy. I realized after I made some uploads to Flickr that the audio added to the photo comes out as a mp4 and not a jpg image. However, if I go back to the camera I can choose to format it as jpg (without audio) and will do that in order to post photo to GWeb. That leaves me with a dilemma. I was counting on keeping note of the plant names via audio and must make two efforts. I'll keep the video/audio format and the JPG format since my computer has a huge harddrive. And I will do the name tags twice. Ah the price of obsessive compulsive naming and indexing! If like NORMAL gardeners who put their plants in the ground in ONE SPOT, I'd remember where each one resided. Not many hosta pick up and move in the dead of night, unless there is a plant thief loose in the neighborhood. It would not take long (even with 500) to remember where each one lived. For now, if you want to see what it looks and sounds like as a mp4 file, visit my Flickr album and the new uploads are the first ones you'll encounter. Some of them have first couple of syllables clipped off, but the printed hosta names are now included....I just added them tonight. I'll upload the JPG form of the pictures here as time goes by, according to appropriate threads. Nothing is as simple as it should be I suppose. I checked and the camera has two files for the same photo. Same number, different file type at the end. I hope Funn sees this about the camera. Woohoo. My file was rejected by GWeb photo uploader because it was LARGER THAN 5000 KB. Guess I'll go to Flickr and upload it there first to resize. Another interesting adjustment to make before sharing pictures.

We use square to take credit cards and it works really well. You can get a stylus to write with on your phone and just have people sign with that. We have one for our Ipad. Square is free until you use it and then they take a percent flat rate. I think it's 3%. We also use accuweather to check the weather. We are very fortunate where our market is, we can use their wifi for free, because they have an internet hot spot. it reaches all the way to our booth, so I bought one of the new Ipad II's so that I can do all this tech stuff easier on a bigger screen. And I don't have to pay for a plan, since the wi fi area is the only place I use it. If for some reason their wifi was down, my daughter helps me on Saturdays and she has a smart phone that we have used the square on too. It's a card reader that fits into your headphone jack on the android and other smart phones and tablets. We have a paper receipt we can fill out for people who want it, but most people just want you to text them their receipt to their cell phone. It's one of the things you can do through square for free. Some of them like the text receipt so much that they quit taking money to the market though...so that kind of sucks!

Azinoh, sorry, I knew I'd forget something! Windows 7. Thanks for the reply, but I did it before without any extra software.
Mary, I tried to get the photos using a memory card but couldn't figure out how to get them onto the memory card....I'm definitely in the remedial level of smart phone! I did just move some songs to the memory card so I thought I could do that to, but never found that option. I also have damaged my usb charge port so I have to do it either via the wireless or figure out how to do the memory card thing. I know that I have done it before...just need to figure it out again!

Don't have that phone but on my android phone I have mine set so every time I take photos or photos are sent to me or I save stuff it goes right to the memory card. See if this video helps to move them to the memory card. Mary

Ok, Mary, I'll check it out. Back to my original method problem....thought I'd figured it out. See if this means anything to anybody. I can't edit the photos because they are "read only".....so I went into properties and unchecked "read only" and it allowed me to change them BUT....they still show up as icons until I click on each one.

Another way that I think is faster (but all the alternatives do work).

Connect your phone with a USB cord to the PC. The phone should appear to the PC as an external drive. You're now at exactly the same spot as when you plug in the SD card to the PC, but you've avoided the file copying preliminary work on the phone and also avoided having to remove the SD card from the phone.

Copy or move files as you wish using Windows Explorer (just as you do to get them from the SD card). This method also works if your PC doesn't have a card reader (as is the case with a new one I just bought).

To me, using Windows Explorer on a PC is a much easier way to move files around than using my finger on the explorer equivalent for an Android phone, especially since the whole folder tree is more easily visible. But suit yourself, there are many ways to get to the same answer

Snidely you missed the part above where I said I damaged my USB port, so I have to do it these 2 other ways.

OK, sorry.

Try to put all relevant info into a first post so that suggestors know everything you do from the start. Additional facts shouldn't peter out as suggestions get made.

All the same, I didn't go through the later comments in enough detail and should have.
