PDF problem

Windows 7 and IE9 and my adobe viewer is all up to date. All of a sudden I can't open PDF files from online. I can go to the main page of a site right click and save the PDF then open on the desktop fine.

Let's say I am googling crochet patterns and there is a link taking me right to a PDF pattern I click and I get a message internet explorer has stopped working and I have to close out the page and go and find the main page to see where the PDF pattern is and save it that way. I think this just started a few days ago and I am puzzled what is causing it and don't even know where to start for a fix. Mary

One of the first things to try is simply restarting the computer. The second thing is to clear history, cookies in the browser. Please also refer to the web link provided for additional ideas.

Sorry forgot to say that is the first thing I tried was a reboot and clearing cache and all that and no luck. I can view PDF files if I save it to the desktop and open but if I come across a link online straight to the PDF the site starts to come up and IE says it has stopped working so I am thinking it's something with IE9. I wonder if any of the recent MS updates caused something. I think I had a bunch of them recently in the last week or 2. Mary!

I come out at just over 27 trees per acre as well. The trees are 40ft apart in both rows. Average row spacing is 23+57/2 = 40ft. So trees are on average 40ft by 40ft which equals 1600 sqft per tree. There are 43,560 sqft per acre. 43,560/1600 = 27.2 trees per acre. If you are thinking about a one acre orchard then you might go 4 rows with 7 trees in each row. But you could do 6 rows of 4 or 5 trees in each row.

yes you have to keep Ie it is part of windows and it is always best to have at least 2 browsers on the pc incase one should fail you always have an alternate. I use and love firefox, there are tons of great add-ons for it that make my life so much easier, try searching here on the forum for firefox and you will find a lot of info. Learn Firefox Ultimate List of Firefox 3 Tips and Tricks those should get you started, you will love the ease of use and the tabbed browsing. the add-ons I always suggest are adblock plus to prevent ads on pages and use the subscriptions on Ricks easylist page Adblock Plus 1.1.3 EasyList and EasyPrivacy after you have added adblock plus to your firefox and restarted it then go there and scroll down to the 2 yellow lines on the right it says add to ABP click on that for both to add to your adblock plus. I also like colored tabs ColorfulTabs 4.1 to help you surf safer and avoid dangerous sites WOT - Safe Browsing Tool 20091028 if you spend some time looking through the hundreds of add-ons you will find so many that make life easier.

That blank screen thing happens to me now and then. Perhaps it's the same as is happaening with you. In my case, the reason why is that some such files will open in IE and that window will be hidden behind the current blank window. (Don't know why.) When that occurs, the IE icon appears in the quick-launch toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

I had a similar challenge when I put in our Wolf in our last house. The problem was the SS "chase" which is the decorative cover (as you probably know) was about 2 feet and cost several hundred dollars. Each section came in 12 inch sections I think (and were EXPENSIVE)... I just remember needing less than even footage for my configuration. The next problem was that each extension piece created a visible (and IMO unsightly)seam. The dealer suggested I go to a good sheet metal fabricator (which i was going to have to do anyway to get one of the extension pieces cut down) and have one custom built which I did. In summary the cost was less than half and I was able to exactly spec the size. In my case I had the chase built exactly the width, depth and height of the hood resulting contant lines all the way to the ceiling. If memory serves me, the chase was 36 inches wide, about 12 inches deep and 42 inches high and the whole thing cost me about $200 and most ofthat was labor. If you want more the chimney look, then you would simply have the chase built smaller in width...probably just enough to cover the actual duct work. Another option if you want more the cylinder duct look to the ceiling is to use commercial grade HVAC duct. I believe it comes in stainless, several diameters and sections up to about 10 feet. This stuff is not the same as the galvanized snap together stuff most people are familiar with or you see in residential work. It is very hefty and good looking. Anyway, a good HVAC person should be able to help you or recommend soomeone. HTH

Ok gonna try this but what document window do they mean? I tried right clicking the little yellow folder in adobe but you can't. Mary

Deselect and then reselect to Display PDF In Browser preference
1. In Reader or Acrobat, right-click the document window, and select Page Display Preferences.
2. From the list at left, select Internet.
3. Deselect Display PDF In Browser, and then click OK.
4. Choose Edit > Preferences > Internet, select Display PDF In Browser, and then click OK.
5. Try to download the PDF again from the website.

I'm not sure and I don't have Adobe installed. I'd imagine if you open Adobe it opens to a document window, but I'm. guessing

I don't know I can't find those settings in my reader. I have to go out and help a senior set up a nextbook to her wifi so will work on my problem later. It's no biggie but I would like to know what happened all of a sudden. Will boot up the laptop with vista and IE9 later and see if it's doing the same. Mary

Well sorry for the multiple posts. Yesterday when I hit submit on that response I kept getting a white page that said internal error contact site administratior or some such so after the 3rd try gave up and didn't realize it had posted those 3 times. Mary

Well I just realized my adobe reader says special editionn or some such. I think it was on the new computer when I got it or something. I uninstalled that and went to adobe and installed the latest one from there. Opened a document then right clicked in the reading area and found the settings and unchecked and rechecked and still can't open PDF's from online. Here is one example of a site I can't open. It must be something from recent MS updates I bet. Mary

It opens fine for me. Can you try another browser?

Installed firefox and it works fine there. This just started about a week ago as I know it worked when I first got the computer a few months ago. Mary

Ok. So it's definitely an Internet IE9 issue.

Lets reset Internet explorer 9 to default settings.

Google "Reset Internet Explorer to default settings"

You will find instructions to to just that. Have trouble let me know.

Once you reset IE 9 to default try to open the On- Line Pdf file

Let me know how you get on.

Why not use another pdf reader instead of Adobe? Or, better yet, try Chrome as your browser with its built-in pdf reader.

Well I have liked IE9 since windows 98 and that's what I like and I don't want to use another PDF viewer. They have both worked fine for me since windows 98 until last week. Tried firefox once on both computers and all I got was freezing pages and IE has never done that to me. Gonna go try that suggestion and report back. Mary
