No Audio Devices installed

No Audio Devices installed. Speaker with red circle, white x. Nothing listed under Device manager for Games, controllers and etc.,or speakers. RealTek audio downloaded. Drivers are said to be correct. Nothing from Windows search has worked. You Tube videos no help. Ran Recuva. Went back to factory settings. Still no sound from speakers or headphones.
Windows 7- 64 bit, system 32, emachine Et1331G,. If anyone can figure this one out, you'll beat everyone on all the help sites visited this week.
volumn is turned on, speakers work on another computer and are plugged in. Cant find the sound card.

Starting with the simple things.

You didn't mention a reboot or a system restore.

What did you recently do out of the ordinary, if anything?

Any updates or upgrades? Software removal or additions? Windows Updates? Software reconfigurations?

Full system scan with your AV and malware detection software(s) of choice?

Thunderstorms or power surges?

Does that include drip systems? Of course. What would make you think that drip would not have the potential for backflow contamination that regular does. And if you are going to claim that the emitters are up in the air so there is no way for water to flow back into the emitters, you're forgetting about damage to drip tubing becoming a source of contamination. What does a T connection above the device have anything to with it? You are dealing with fluid dynamics. I don't have the time to explain everything I know about fluid dynamics, but lets just put it this way... Based on the instructions you state the backflow device gives, that means it is the type of backflow that can not guarantee to prevent backflow if there is back pressure (i.e. water being forced backwards into the device). This is why the instructions state that it must be 12' above the sprinkler system... because water can not flow up hill. If for any reason you can not install your backflow at the top of the hill ABOVE the entire irrigation system, then you need to use a different backflow device. Hi iggie, I have this problem with my Vista laptop. I hope this will help. Go to Device Manager and see if Audio is listed. If it is not, this is what I have found works. Do a memory test (recovery memory test). Control Panel/Administration Tools/Memory Diagnostic Tool (check your computer for memory problems). Choose: Restart now and check for Problems. (recommended) Leave your computer alone until it shuts down. When you restart, your audio should be back. This also works for HP Quick Touck OnScreen Display Stops Working (Problem Event: APP crash) This is a recurring problem with many computers so you may have to do this again.....and again. First right click your speaker Icon and open Volume control and make sure your sound is not muted. Located on your lower right. If you don't have a speaker Icon go to the Control Panel and check your sound Windows XP See if your sound has been stopped in Services Under Windows Audio. Start - Control Panel - Open Administrative Tools - Open Component Services - Click Services (Local) and Scrowl down the list to Windows Audio to see if it says - Started. If stopped Left click Windows Audio and click restart. - Or Right click Windows Audio - left click Properties - Left click Start If the above doesn't work, go to control panel and open System Icon - Hardware Tab - Device Manager - Click the + Plus sign for Sounds.......... - Right click Realtek AC 97 (Or whatever Sound you have) - Left click - Update Driver. To update you will need the CD that came with your computer Or go on the Internet to download the drivers for your sound. Find what sound your using. All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Information.

-------Rebooted,System restore, nothing new, automatic updates and driver downloads, full system scan and malware (which said some files could not be scanned), thunderstorms after loss of sound.

Try clicking Start then type device manager and the device manager should appear.

Look down for the 'Sounds and ... controller'. Click the plus sign beside that to show the drop down menu and see if any drivers have a yellow exclamation or question mark beside them.

Double click on the audio device, then click the 'Driver' tab and try updating the driver. This is assuming it is showing there.

Typed in device manager. List shows: Device manager; View devices and printer; Update device drivers.
Erasing some of the typed letters yields a longer list, some of which tells me "No Audio Output Devices installed". No Sounds and ... controller to click on. That's why I'm here looking for help -Things are missing.

Sincere apologies if that link was a bad one...I've had the same loss of audio device problem on my Asus laptop, and used that method to repair it. No idea how that occurred, as I scanned the link before posting it. Will delete my earlier message...

In your original post you state you went back to factory defaults.

Are you saying you used the recovery partition wiping the old off and re-installing everything?

Or did you use a Windows 7 DVD?

If you used the recovery partition, or a DVD created from the partition you should have had all the necessary drivers installed.

If however you use a different Windows 7 DVD (which is perfectly legal) then all the drivers would be missing.

If you returned the computer to factory defaults using the recovery partition it might be that something happened during the process. I would suggest doing the task again and see what difference it makes.
