Can I view Fox News (TV) live on my computer

I am considering changing my high cost cable TV connection to just "basic". The reason I pay for the expanded channels is to get Fox News and a few other programs.

I did a brief search and it seems there are a number of offers for "free" programs that facilitate viewing "streaming" TV programs. I am always reluctant to download and install any program from the web.

Another issue, what is the minimum Internet speed needed? I currently have only 1.5 mbit DSL. I can upgrade to 3, or maybe 5 mbit DSL for a lot less than the cost of the expanded TV cable access. I'd also have faster Internet access for general use too. Still, I'm happy with basic 1.5 mbit for current Internet uses.

Really two questions: 1) access to streaming TV, 2) minimum Internet download speed.

Have you done any searching for a live stream of Fox News..did you try this link???

Thanks genes, yes I was to that site before I posted my question, and went again using the link you provided. Both times I had Fox News on my TV to compare with. It turns out I could see it wasn't the same programing, even. The lady on the computer was a person I've never seen on Fox News. It appears to be a special program/staff just for web consumption.

Okay, while I still like the idea of PLEX giving me PC connection to my WiFi - thus to my TV via Roku, I tested my Notebook (Toshiba Windows 7) connections to my existing 24" LED HDTV. When connected between the VGA 15 pin (I think) connectors and picking "RGB" for my input channel on the HDTV my computer display came up very nicely. Of course I have to get audio separately, Then I tried the HDMI connection and found after some difficulty W7 and/or Toshiba will support only two displays - thus with the Notebook screen on and my VGA desk LED display on the HDTV shows a "no signal" for the HDMI. I didn't test to see if the setup would support HDMI and Desktop Displayl (Notebook top closed). I then, after some problems with some long winded W7 updates finally rebooted the Notebook and disconnected the VGA connection. The HDTV picture and Sound come up on the HDMI input - all worked great. Happily I had a 10' HDMI cable on hand - a spare one. This will work, but I need to replace the old living room SDTV or get PLEX working - better get both. I am now looking at at 28" Sansui that is sale priced. It has three HDMI inputs, great, one could go to the Roku, one for the hanging cable for connection to my Notebook W7, and Laptop W8, and still have a spare HDMI which could go to an updated Cable Set Top. And there is still a VGA, I'll likely not use. . My existing SDTV is a 27", and so the 28" LED HDTV has a longer diagonal (really 27.5") but due to the 16:9 aspect ration has a few less square inches of screen, which affects only signals with the older TV aspect ration, whatever that is. Interested in any view/questions.

the safety part yes it should be safe, my friend uses hers to order online and I think she does some banking too. The printer you need to check the list they have for the ones that are definitely compatible my friend has use 2 different ones with no problems, for mouse she had to try a few usb plug and play versions till she hit one she liked that worked well, using a usb wireless mouse is a good idea since the keyboard is wireless too, now the remote can be used to take on some of the duties of a mouse and the keyboard that comes with it is a specially designed one that has special keys to do certain things, the usb ports are in the back of the unit so I had her get a usb cord to be able to run it to the front then plug in a little usb hub to plug her mouse into that gives more usb ports. I would definitely go to the forums they have some very good ones dedicated to these units. My friend has learned so much about hers from those forums. You do not have to worry about getting any updates the updates are sent right to the units and remember this is not a regular pc so no software can be loaded but you can use websites like google Docs to do word processing and docs and spreadsheets etc and you can then have your printer print them.. You can set up other email on line if you prefer also. My suggestion on the mouse would be a small notebook sized mouse in usb wireless. They are smaller and easier to handle with older hands or arthritic hands, I have arthritis and I much prefer using a small mouse. you can google search for some of the forums but I know my friend said it has links to them on her unit home page.

I'd get a TV, as most new ones today will accept a computer output. They'll have better resolution and compatibility for TV as that sounds like what you do most. Some have a USB slot and ethernet ports so you can hook up to the network. An HDMI cable will allow you get High Def content there too. You'll need a switch of some type if you want to use one DVD player on both TV's. Usually cheaper to just get a dedicated DVD player. Best to enlist a local company or someone like Geek Squad to plot out a course of action for you based on your needs a specific equipment and access to run wires.

I like that move, you have another door to use into the LR so it's not that big a deal. I don't think you'llbe using your desk when company comes. I would suggest that you make it a desk inside a closet with folding doors that you can close up. I wish I could do that on mine. Too often there is messy "work in progress" on it. Another option is to move your fridge to the end of the long "L" counter in your kitchen. That would make a snug but efficient triangle, and you have a lot of counter space on the island. The fridge would be close to the eating area. You could then have that littlle alcove as a desk that is not in immediate line of sight of the rest of the house.

Google ww itv. Select English. Down the left side find United States. There are several of these that have Fox News. Maybe, maybe not what you want. Just for your information.

Not so vague,

The Web server (running the Web Site) encountered an unexpected condition that prevented it from fulfilling the request by the client (e.g. your Web browser or our CheckUpDown robot) for access to the requested URL.

This error can only be resolved by fixes to the Web server software. It is not a client-side problem. It is up to the operators of the Web server site to locate and analyse the logs which should give further information about the error.

This is a 'catch-all' error generated by the Web server. Basically something has gone wrong, but the server can not be more specific about the error condition in its response to the client. In addition to the 500 error notified back to the client, the Web server should generate some kind of internal error log which gives more details of what went wrong. It is up to the operators of the Web server site to locate and analyse these logs.

If it is about saving money perhaps you might chat with a local antenna store. From what I have read you can expect better results from an external antenna than from cable or satellite. One purchase price, no further expenses.

Yes I have considered turning my antenna back on, it is in my attic. But, Fox News, like all cable news programs are available on on "cable" (or satellite). I am a bit out in the country too, about equal distance from NY City and Philadelphia. Both have good broadcast bases, but neither is good over 35 miles away. NY was my best, but not great before cable came down our country road.

I did find that Comcast has a (not advertised and almost invisible on their web site) "Digital Economy" that offers most of what I watch, including Fox News, for $39, or a $30 per month savings. There is also an attractive Satellite offer from my telephone company from which I buy DSL and telephone (local only) service.

And, thanks for the link to Fox News, that appears to be the cable show with a slight time off-set. I think the web was about 2 seconds ahead of the TV.

That is, how did you relate "nocksfuze" to Fox News. I did explore the site at ..../channel and found many choices, but never found the Fox News Channel. I searched on "Fox News" not on "nocksfuze".

To answer my other question, a 1.5 mb Internet access (DSL in my case) is sufficient to get the tv programs I watched. There may have been a few breaks, but not many. I did note extra commercials to pay for this service which were far more annoying than any down load speed limitation.

As luck would have it we had a thunder storm in Northern NJ yesterday and it took my cable service down. It was off and is still off as there appears to be a problem unique to my address - Comcast tech is coming by around noon time today. So, the Internet access was the only access I had to my favorite Fox programs last night - it works, but I'll admit I like the big screen tv better.

In any case, this gave me a trial run on getting Fox News only on my computer.

I watch Fox at this site just about everyday.
(watching now 8)

I found it the same way you did .. someone told me 8)

'Sometimes' it doesn't work but most of the time I have no problem.

I too think it was a pretty good trick to find nocksfuze. BTW, Wikipedia has a page on ustream.tv and links to about a dozen similar sites but no buzz on nocksfuze.

I've had over a dozen sites that 'use' to air Fox but Fox was/is quick at shutting them down!
