change from Master to slave?

When booting into Safe Mode, my computer shows me that it boots into Slave or Secondary instead of Master. This change was made by a computer technician at a shop I took it to for repair. I don't understand this change, and shop has closed, so no answers can be had there. I plan to re-install my O,S. and want to know if this change is going to be a problem during install. Can anyone understand what I mean, and help me out with this? Thank you in advance.

I don't fully understand it either. The computer should boot to the the drive with the operating system on it that usually being "C". When you boot to Safe mode do you still have access to your windows operating system?

Explain what you see that gives you the notion you are on the slave drive.

I suppose it is possible the tech rearranged the DVD and hard drive on the ribbon cable so he could have the CD as the first drive sought during startup. Not necessary of course because this is usually taken care of in the BIOS settings.

Click Start, click My computer and you should see the hard drive/s and DVD player listed, what letters are allocated to each of them?

What was the problem the tech was supposed to correct?

Oh I see you like gaudy colors, like me! My fave combo last year was butterfly weed and perennial geranium, long lasting and in your face blue & orange (Go Bears) all summer. This year, I'm putting orange in all my beds. Today, I'm on the hunt for an orange begonia for the shade garden, among other things. If I can just figure out how to post pics, you can see how that turns out. The reason I mention the blue spruce, that is the single biggest regret I have for MY gardens, so it is the voice of experience talking. I really wish I had left it alone (I let my BIL do the awful deed itself). Maybe later you'll get interested in dwarf conifers, layering them into this bed. In any case, it's one of those things that can't be undone. FWIW, the peony CAN be moved, the fall is the best time for that. I moved mine last year, and it bloomed this year, same as always. I think digging the new hole beforehand and not planting it too deep are the keys to success with that. Besides, it is much easier to replace than a fully grown, mature specimen conifer. IF you decide to move it, but it looks fine where it is from here. I can see in the flower pic that you have a nice strip of lawn between the bed and the tree, and I personally like how the turf sets off the shape of the bed. Push mowing, and digging, are good exercise (beats having to go to the gym), esp. as it sounds like you already have a push mower. I've been looking for one, they're getting hard to find! I have a very small lot (shrinking every year, heh) so my battery-powered mower works great. I think you're doing a fine job, keep it up. :)

Cool counters, Alisa. With our last remodel in 2011, we did a white shaker kitchen. I loved it at the time. This time around we are taking a design risk. When researching for our current kitchen remodel, we looked at a lot of MCM/modern kitchens and the vast majority of them either have walnut, rift sawn oak or lacquered white slab cabinets. While those are beautiful, we wanted to do something different. We chose fluted cabinets that were inspired by a piece of MCM furniture we saw. The island will have stainless steel cabinets. I've never seen a kitchen with cabinets like this before, and I'm a little nervous about how they are going to turn out. With a white shaker kitchen, I had a vision of exactly what my space would look like -- it looked like many of the other kitchens on here. With this kitchen, we are going into unchartered territory with a unique cabinet style and stainless, which is not all that common in residential applications. It could turn out great, or it could be an epic fail. But I'm pushing myself to take a risk this time around.

Sorry, I’m away from my PC. This was a quick drawing I did. It’s not dimensioned or labelled. I have the room divided into 3. From the left, closet/bath to bed to lounge/study. All the walkways are 3’ to 4’ wide The closets flank the bath. Closet space is 6’ x 15 ‘ each. Each closet gets a dresser or island. The double vanity is 9’-6” long (2’ wide) On to the shower...shower is accessed from the sides. Glass doors are 30” wide. Shower itself is 9’-5” x 4’ The back of the shower forms the tv wall for the bedroom. To the right is the entrance into the bedroom. Bedroom is roughly 20’x14’. To the right of the bed, next to the entrance is cabinet space. 9’ long for a kitchenette/wet bar etc. Then behind the bed is the lounge/study. There are those occasions when you have to work from home or watch tv without disturbing your partner. Right now, all these look very open but if needed, each room can be closed off ...combination of pocket and barn doors. There are windows all over the space. All high windows but I don’t think those are relevant in this case. Hope this helps you picture it. NB: I am aware that not everyone is a fan of a combo shower/bath but this works well for us. I also know that some may question the 2 toilets. I’ve designed the washroom/closet to look like 2 separate rooms (with no wall...if that makes sense)

Changing interior paint from taupe/gray to beige. Suggestions please?

I have a custom-modified version of Sherwin-Williams's oyster bar throughout my house. The "custom" part is that I asked the paint specialist to "double it", so it's slightly darker and more saturated than the original SW oyster bar color. A color consultant advised me on the color, which I originally thought was a boring beige, but in hindsight was a great choice because it's very neutral. It has slight undertones of gray/green, depending on the light. It looks great with just about any other color accessories, including Persian-type rugs with reddish, blue, and green hues.

My computer shows (C) as the hard drive, D and E are DVD and CD=rw. I had the cpu in as I had replaced the hard drive. I was having trouble installing O.S. He changed out my original ribbon for the hard drive and made the change then. Yes, when I boot, I do have access to the operating system. The screen that shows me that it is secondary or slave drive first order, instead of Master is one I get to by using F8 or F11 when booting. I want to re=install the operating system, I think it's been installed twice and have been having trouble with it since this trip to computer repair store. I can't do a lot of the things I used to be able to do, have no use of any icon across the top of page, home, email, print. Printer only works from and internet page. Not at all from any program. Have done the uninstall and reinstall of printer, newest drivers, all troubleshooting I can find, both in XP and on printer mfg. site. Many other problems will post seperate questions for. I just want to know why I get this chart where you can only use the up and down keys to change what is highlighted for Master or slave.
