I received the following message on my iPhone. Something the same or similar appeared previously. Then came an episode that opened up the monster that AVG can be and funky

emails like one I received today. I will use superantispyware after this message.

Also, here I am putting a potenitally harmful message that appeared on my phone and am giving it to you.

You haven't dinged me before for doing this but are there any rules to keep you safe?

This is why Shaddy's question about viruses on cell phones is so important to me.

This is a text message? All kinds of people/companies send spam text messages.

iPhones are pretty secure because of the nature of the operating system unless you've jailbroken the phone, then all bets are off.

I bought my iPod and iPhone from my local Apple Store. I have been in many times to ask questions and they are very happy to answer them. The Apple stores have several free workshops where you can learn all about the phone. When I buy my next computer it is going to be an Apple in large part because I can drive 10 minutes and ask questions about my new computer, not have to talk to someone across the globe! Ginny

It means that since the property was an inheritance, that the current owner and agent "know nothing" about whether or not there were permits pulled for any renovations, or the age of any of the home systems, or if the there is a buried oil tank on the property, or if there is someone on the sex offenders database living next door, of if the property across the street was just sold to be demolished and have a convenience store put in it's place,........ In other words, it's a heads up to do your due diligence very well, as they aren't disclosing anything about the property, because they "don't know". It's similar to many foreclosed homes. If you buy it and find that buried oil tank on the property, then tough luck, it's yours to clean up. So, check with your local record keeping municipality, any fuel oil suppliers, any criminal databases, and don't just have a home inspection, have an actual trade come out and assess any areas that may have been flagged on the home inspection report, within reason. If the house is 40 years old, and the HVAC looks all original, I wouldn't bother with a HVAC specialist, as you'll be replacing all of that anyway. However, if the HI report comes back that the home only has a 60 amp service, I'd want an electrician to give me an idea if new service from the pole was needed or if the panel itself needed upgrading and more distributing wire run to the rooms. Same with the plumbing. If it's galvanized, or a hodgepodge of visible repairs to the copper in the basement, then you know to budget fixing it no matter what, no need for a plumber's opinion. So, do your due diligence, but given the age of the house, also plan on needing a decent amount of reserve should one of those major systems fail before you can get to it in time.

I'm home with my new phone and have everything pretty much setup. Most everything transferred wirelessly at the Apple store but some apps required reconfiguration including my Ring doorbell which physically required me to go outside to the device. It took an hour for the stuff to transfer so while that was going on I played around with a demo phone and learned more about the 11 Pro including how to get the top half of the screen to come down to the bottom so you can cover the large screen with one hand. I had seen someone do that with an older phone but forgot about it until today. Also learned that the phone uses infrared to ID your face at night so I guess that won't be a problem. Now just waiting for my case to be delivered from Amazon today and then I'm good to go. We usually buy our phones at the AT&T store but I'm such an early bird this time that they didn't have any of this model in stock so I had to go to the Apple store. I thought I might get the green color but they were out of that so I got gold. I've always had grey or black so something different and I got a clear sparkly case so I'll be relatively blingy compared to the past. That place was busy as ever - not quite as bad in the middle of a week day - one of the joys of retirement.

It's not something I've ever paid much attention to but it does appear to have changed. No worries First thing to do is to pose the question to your employer's payroll department. Not every place does it quite the same way. Some have their own practices that may differ from IRS suggestions. If that doesn't get you to where you want to be, follow the link at Step 2, a, to the online IRS Withholding Estimator. Follow that through and it will give you a "credit" number that gets entered on the W-4 that should accomplish what you want. No, you won't have such a credit on your tax return but it appears that's how the form works now. Don't try to understand the reasoning, it's a form and they decided to do it a certain way. There's nothing more to know or figure out, just follow the instructions.

If anyone has a clue about this message and can read it. I'd like to know if there are key words that denote garbage. It sez free message will stop. I got that before as I said.

Go to sprint.com and block the sms number.
Got that awhile ago when I went from a Rumoe to a Q9.
Sprint uses a "push" service for email. The push comes from a sms, that the phone silently drops, that triggers an email poll.
When phones are switched, without the push being turjed off on the old phone, sprint keeps sending the sms for awhile.

The sprint cs rep I talked to back then had no clue abiut how to stop it so I blocked it.

I don't really know but to me it doesn't seem to be malicious, just an annoyance.

ellie the link I gave for the phone antivirus was for android phones if yours is a iphone you would need to search on the apple app site I have no idea what is available for iphone I do not own one sorry.

I would do as stated above and just block that text.I do not think it is dangerous.

sorry folks, i haven't felt well today.
now about the message. i saw it before - last week or two. I now can send no email messages..I fixed it by working on the mail settings and then it worked.

Chugger, Nice find. Thans for going the distance. It is old yes. I have gone to the source = I believe comcast ( or sprint) = and deleted all my email messages for the last couple of weeks and called the suspicious ones spam. This message is a text message I received. You are right I need to do something with text. I know the push system and I wiped out all emails by continually deleting on the phone. so i was only receiving current email. I will need to adjust the email settings.

RC, I swore i looked at your link that finds bugs for cell phones and it was for ios as well. sad that it isn't.

I fixed the iPhone settings. It is fine.
Also, those who have iPhone with siri you can sometimes
hold the on/off button down and the power one at the same time as well and it will readjust. It has worked for me.

Back to bed.
