Do these two programs do the same thing? I have them both on and maybe I shouldn't.

Thanks so much,

RE: Microsoft Security Essentials and Ad-Aware

Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection for your home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. Only run 1 Anti Virus program.

See link and tell us what ad aware program is actually installed. There are several of them lets make sure we are on the same page.

I'm thinking it's this one Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition.

It says Ad-Aware version 8.1.4

Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition is what I have.

RE: Microsoft Security Essentials and Ad-Aware

That's a paid program if it's up to date and running ok I would keep it. You should uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials

Lavasoft Ad-Aware version 8.1.4

RE: Microsoft Security Essentials and Ad-Aware

AdAware was once the flagship of the malware detection industry. Through time and competition it has become nothing more than a shadow of its prior self. AA should be onlyconsidered a support detection application. Spybot is another. Technology and the sophistication of malware now requires powerful applications like MWB and SAS as front line detection.

Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition

ok sorry about all that then, please disregard the last post.

You can keep Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition then with out issue.
