open office problems

I have big time problems with open office. EVERYTHING I saved in Open office is gone..I seem to have lost OO completely. Even things I saved on a flash drive won't open. I have lost a lot of info I want/need. I always thought what I saved in a flash drive will be there when I need it. I tried to reinstall OO & can't..it doesn't come on..I just get a shortcut that isn't really a shortcut.
I did a quick MWB & it showed no virus. I'm doing a complete scan now. I rebooted even a cold reboot but nothing. This is a big problem for me. I guess there is nothing I can do.

What is bothering me most is my flash drives not saving .. I can't retrieve what is there from my Open office.. that is scarey to me. i have lost so much & wonder what else I have lost.
is there anywhere I can save my info.. I have some in note pad but not what was in OO. I don't like wordpad as it double spaces. Can I change that?
Sorry to ramble on but pretty upset right now. I'm sure there is no way to get it back but maybe someone can tell me why it happened. I'll be gone till about 8 central time & hope to have some answers when I get home.

Can't help you with OO because I've never used it.

As for single spacing in Wordpad, hover your cursor over the top right icon in the paragraph section; it should say "line spacing".

Click the icon and select 1.0.

I just did that & it still looks like double spaced to me.

I hear you, damccoy....my memory is NOT what it used to be either and my attitude is NOT what it used to be either. I find myself "cranky" about having to spend my valuable time learning something new when what I was doing was perfectly fine and suited my needs. AND I would really prefer spending my time doing something else more fun...like quilting or sewing or reading on my kindle or gardening or scrapbooking or cooking or most anything than sitting in front of a computer screen. I use OO and it suits my needs well. I've not used LO yet, and since they are so closely related I wouldn't expect the differences to impact me very much. Since both are free, you should just flip a coin and take one for a test drive. There's really nothing to lose.

Is this computer YOUR OWN PERSONAL COMPUTER owned by YOU, or does it belong to your employer? If it belongs to the employer or is connected to the employers network, then your company's IT department may have rules about what CAN and CANNOT be installed on their network and on computers owned by them or used on their network. If this is the case, your should talk to whoever in your building is responsible for computer services and find out if they can assist. It may be that the network doesn't recognize you as someone authorized to install new programs.

Ooops, forgot to add:

Uncheck "Add 10 pt space after paragraphs".

Apparently, you will need to make this change whenever you create a document in Wordpad.

I got everything back.. I looked in ADD & REMOVE..Open Office was there.. I removed it & was able to install it again. I have no idea why it disappeared & hope it doesn't happen again.

At least I learned how to stop the double spacing in word pad :-)
