I agree with Doris, email them that they have a certain amount of time left (whatever you decide on), and if you don't receive their SASBE's by then, pass on the seeds to others. I'm moving to another zone 5 that can get colder in the winter but generally for a shorter winter than we have here and overall warmer night time temps than we have here, if that makes any sense. Moving from Sierra mountains to midwest. Well I have tossed two so far, repotted one that looks to have some root life left and threw my two knock outs in a bucket together because the roots seem to still have some life so we'll see. None of thse have leaves and only one has a couple inches of green cane. I'm moving Saturday and don't have time to wait and see what is going to live or not so I'm giving them all the hope I have if I see any signs of life but at the same token do not want to haul dead plants because space is limited. I don't know which roses are own root, only that these have survived more than one winter here as planted in pots but this spring is tough for them.

Hi Chrissy, You will probably get some bloom this year from your Oaks plants and for sure with your local acquisitions. Once they recover from the transplanting, they really take off. How long have they been in the ground? The foliage will turn yellow when first planted but will be quickly replaced with new foliage. I usually see new growth on newly planted fans in as little as a week. Good luck with your first dl's. Jan

You don't have to wait. Drying seeds is only needed if you are going to store them. Any good seed starting medium is good but you also have coir, oasis cubes, sponges, peat pellets and a bunch of other options. There is also a method to sprout seeds in a coffee filter in a baggie. It's called "the baggie method" and it's in the FAQ. I think it's in the Growing from Seed forum. I little hint if you're new...if you use a peat based medium (most are peat), hydrate with warm/hot water. Cold water takes a long time to soak into peat.
