Floppy laptop screen

My laptop screen is becoming loose, when it is bent just a touch too far backwards it folds back all the way. Is there a fix for this? I don't see any way to get in to tighten it up.

It is a Dell Latitude D610.

Yes, that is a good video for resolving such an issue....with one major exception. When a person is going to work on a computer, they would be wise to turn the computer off before doing anything to the computer. If it is a desktop, turn it off and then unplug from the wall outlet before making a repair. If it is a laptop, turn it off and remove the battery. When repairs are completed on the desktop, plug back into the wall outlet and then turn the computer on. When repairs are completed on the laptop, re-install the battery and then turn the computer back on. For some people this may seem like elementary information, but for others this information is not known. I would say that if that young man in the video works on his computer enough times with the power on, he will probably experience ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) and will be headed to the store to purchase a new motherboard.

I recently replaced a lcd screen on a laptop. I ordered my replacement from Rossman Supply. Took a few days to get it, but we were dealing with an extended holiday weekend. Thanks, pkponder! I called Toshiba as you advised and was told that the hardware was covered for 1 year. I have to find the receipt and then contact the warranty department on Monday to make arrangements to send it in to Toshiba. Thanks again.

ugh. daughter dropped laptop and has screen issues

She brought it over and the LCD was completely undamaged. In the corner, it was slightly separated from the frame. The frame was damaged a bit, bent so that the corner of the LCD would not "snap" into place. It would stay in place if we held it with our fingers, but wouldn't be secure. There's also a dent in the base by the keyboard (same corner when it's closed), but that's cosmetic. I turned it off, pried the corner of the frame a bit and snapped the LCD back into place. We both heard it snap in and I could feel it make the connection. To be on the safe side, we used some clear packing tape. You can certainly see the tape, and if you look from certain angles, you can see that it's not quite square, but all in all, it's in pretty good shape. When she called, I thought the repairs would be a couple of hundred dollars if I did them myself, so I'm VERY relieved that it was so easy to fix. And I'm also relieved that my daughter, a senior in high school, didn't insist that we needed to replace the entire case since it no longer looked new.

One of the best ways I have found to combat this, especially with a laptop, is to wear a pair of those skintight latex gloves that one can get by the boxful/drugstore...futher, when removing modules such as memory or mini pci cards, grasp then between to fingers on the edge and keep fingers off of the face and back where the electronic components are..stay away from carpeted areas and use eg kitchen table Here is a link that might be useful: ESD-Electro static discharge

Thank you both so much, I really appreciate the advice about the battery. I wouldn't have thought to remove that, but I would have unplugged it first.

If you do anything on a laptop, ie change memory etc, anything involving opening the bottom panel..like blowing out the dustbunnies with canned air..always, always, unplug and remove the battery

Batteries in laptops are dangerous to humans too. They start to short, some become like little out of control nuclear reactors.

Well, it sort of worked, the very left screw I was unable to get to, a peg was in the way, but it did help a little.
