External HDD Help ?

I picked up a WD My Passport to add to my Dell Dimension 2400 running XP home, but I seem to find the May Passport to install files,

I downloaded the drivers, and can find the My Passport in the Device manager under disk Drives, and also when I disk Management, it shows as Disk1,

How to I assign the My Passport a drive letter to make it useable? when I right click on the drive in the Disk Management, only properties and help are available

The external drive will be assigned a letter automatically.

Right click on the Start button and click Explore. You now have a window with 2 panes, look on the left side and you will see the C drive listed and possibly/probably and E drive. This is your external drive. D will be assigned to your DVD player but not visible at this time because there is no disc in the drawer.

While there if you wish to change the name of your external drive simply right click on the name, click Rename, give it a name and hit Enter. Done.

To view files simply click once on a drive or folder on the left side and the contents are shown on the right. Where there is a small plus sign or arrow beside a folder (depending on which Windows you have) on the left side this indicates sub folder, click it and those drop down underneath.

To see info on the right side in different ways look near the top right corner for a small box with a down arrow, click this for a drop down menu where you can select different layouts. Play about a bit to see which you like. I often swap beteen 'Details' and 'Large icons'

I still couldn't find the Drive with the instructions, so I went and downloaded the utilities and firmware, and did a quick format and then it was there,

So then I used your information to rename the drive

John, I understand that fear - to a degree. However you currently have a useless drive with data on that you wish to recover. Taking it to a shop will possibly cost as much or more than a new drive. First try using the drive on another computer if possible. Have you considered the possibility that the power supply has failed? If that fails look around the edges, from all the sites I visited I cannot see all around but there might be a snap fit type feature holding the outer casing to the body of this thing. Try prying along the seams with a thin flat blade screwdriver. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

What was the name of the virus? What did you use to remove it? Instructions for Windows 7 Open Computer or Windows Explorer and press the Alt key. Select Tools > Folder Options > and click the View tab Under Advanced settings uncheck Hide empty drives in the Computer folder. Click OK.

so the house is located in Israel. there is no one outstanding color with surrounding houses but most use relatively bright colors - shades of white, gray, light brown and etc. lots of trees in the area, mainly pine trees and similar as tall trees. I figured you probably were from your name. :) Elad, as I recall, most of the homes were painted shades of white, tan or gray? I think any of those would work and I certainly wouldn't do anything dark in your climate. Depending on where in Israel would also determine the color? When I think of something like Jaffa or Jerusalem , I imagine more of that dusty beige color, but when I think of Tel Aviv, I see more of white or gray?

Hello I’m reallh stuck on what to paint the yellow triangle with the half circle window in it. Ironstone to match the garage door? Quest to match the front door? Orange to match the bricks? White? I want to paint the white hand railing either ironstone or quest. And replace the gutters with ironstone. Thanks in advance!
