Battery Laptop Charging Issue

Posted by dmickey (My Page) on

I have a Compaq Presario CQ62-214NR laptop. I replaced the original battery with a new one from E-bay that was not an OEM battery. The new battery will charge and discharge.

However, in order to get the battery to recharge when it is down, I must remove and reinsert the battery every SINGLE time. The light becomes a flashing amber light when the battery becomes low. It stays flashing until the battery is removed and reinserted. Then it stops flashing and remains amber until it is fully charged. Once it is fully charged, the light changes to a flashing amber color.

Am I missing something that needs to be done so I do not have to reseat the battery everytime I recharge it?
Or do I need to get OEM battery to make this issue go away?

You should never have to remove and replace a battery to get it to charge and when fully charged, I would expect the light to remain a solid green not a flashing amber..are the specs of the replacement battery the same as the original..Seen all kinds of strange things happen with non-OEM replacement batteries
