Pop ups on gardenweb

Getting popups on gardenweb forums. Computer is clean and it's only happening on gardenweb. Desktop running windows 7 using IE9 to browse, what's going on? Was not doing this yesterday? April fools joke? Went to hubby's work with him and he could do no work as all the servers were down at school and memo said it was definately not an April fools joke and it was major and wold take a long time to fix, weird day being April fools. Just tried my IE9 on Vista and found no ads or pop ups.

Strange, it's only on gardenweb. Will run malewarebytes again and my virus scanner. Have to boot up the laptop later to finish son taxes. Same specs so will see what happens there. Mary

dethride, that may not be the fault of GardenWeb. Someone may have sneaked another unwanted program in your machine that will generate those pop ups when it detects words like fruit, apples, berries etc... The pages of this specific forum will always have the word Fruit, so unless that adware is removed, it will pop all the time. Never had any pop-up on my machine. Of course I have several types of firewall including sophisticated software firewall. I don't download any free programs, never clicked electronic greetings so don't anybody send me, never clicked on any links on any emails, and if I wanted to, I first cut and paste it unto an editor to evaluate the construction of the address and then research about if the address belonged to suspicious people. All my email defaults do not execute any of the scripts such as active x, java, and all html, flash player, media player , and if I wanted to view them, would use a honeypot computer that doesn't have any sensitive information and not directly linked to our network. Never sacrifice security for convenience.

I have the slider also. The baby too! I do not like the pop-ups but I do not like Dave's Garden. I wasted money and time on that site trying to "get in" with the "in" crowd. I came over here and was welcomed with open arms. I love it here and I really like the people over here too. The info over here is better - IMHO. I think if this was a pay site there would be MANY MANY fewer folks posting. IMHO. I also post on the EarthBox forum on the EarthBox website. Those folks welcomed me straight away - no 'in' crowd. And it is free!! DL

Wow, what an impressive vine. At first I too did not see how it was attached. Looking more closely though, it seems that there might be some visible, small dark attachment pieces used throughout, but the photo does not reveal what those pieces are made of; or how they attach. I would like to find an attachment system which will not have to penetrate the stone work on my pillar. Another observation, is how well the way the 'Altissimo' has been trained; By fanning it out so thinly, it most likely gives the vine very good circulation of air to help prevent molds and fungi from attacking the vine's leaves. I wonder if Jacksonville has shorter winters and by such the vine grew that large more quickly than it would in the Northeast OK USDA zone 6b/7a. Ron and Susan, when you took the photo, what light exposure direction did that vine receive? On another note, After posting my request, I did finally find the post I requested info for finding. It turned out to be a photo submitted by hoovb, on April 5, 07 at 16:31 in a post called "Self Portrait with CI Shot Silk (5 pics)." That photo shows the vine blooming heavily, with shrubs in front of its knees, its canes arching over a driveway entrance, and its cains trained closely together. In Ron and Susan's posted photo, it is nice to see how the owners let the entire rose grow, without hiding the knees with a shrub; that way, it is easy to see how they let the vine develop for them to achieve the overall affect. Are there any others who will post photos of their mature 'Altissimo' vines? If so, and if the photo is such that the viewer finds him or herself clueless as to how the vine is attached, hopefully that detailed description will, also, be described for us.

Yeah, it does, but you might get lucky. I don't have upward-spraying nozzles, but I do find the Hunter 15' adjustable spray nozzle does a pretty good job of clearing taller grasses as the spray angle is pretty sharply upwards. And you can change the angular opening to anything you want. You might be able to change out the problem risers with taller ones as well--most companies make 4", 6", and 12" risers.

I play with IE every once in a while and they popped up on me a couple of day ago. I thought that was normal because I have been using FF for a long time.

I only use IE and have never seen pop ups before. I don't use firefox but have it installed and it didn't happen with firefox so must be IE9 and this site or something. No pop ups any where else on the net. Mary

Firefox plus AdBlock Plus with Easy List, No ads ever.

I am one of the odd ball few that doesn't like firefox. For some reason it always freezes on me, both computers and IE doesn't and just works much better for me. Another scan came up clean. Mary

The ones I saw were the words highlighted with green and they pop up right in your face. They are really annoying, I have IE 10.

There is still one in the email spam in Da's post. It is highlighter in green with a small symbol beside it.

I'm here at work now using the W7 with IE9. No ads, and the only in-text link is Windows 7 in ACL's original post.

Acraftylady, there is still one in my IE 10. It is the word "forums" with the little symbol beside it. I don't think it pops up unless you run your cursor over it. You just have to learn to keep your cursor off the written word. Literally!

I didn't have anything coming up when I hovered. Just the pop up I showed as soon as went on any page here yesterday. I had the green links suddenly appear months ago and followed the instructions to unsub and those have been gone ever since. Mary
