Why can't I see some videos?

I want to watch the PBS video linked to below, but all I see is a black screen. I have no problem on youtube or other sites.

What could be the problem? Thanks.

Oh, I use Firefox with adblock on my Toshiba laptop.

Do you have Flashplayer installed and updated? I'm currently using version 11.6.602.180 and I can see it with Firefox 19.0.2 with adblock plus enabled on that page.

You likely need Adobe Flash Player - or if you have it perhaps you have an older version. My current version is 11.6.602.180 and I see the program.

Do you see images on other websites? Can you see photos at Photobucket.com (where the images on the post above are originating from)? You might need to change a setting on your web browser. Or you could also check with your Internet Service Provider and see if they are blocking images from Photobucket.com, etc. Hopefully someone else will provide some more helpful advice if the above doesn't work! Sherry

jalal: having the same problem recently!! I always chec the box by my posting so responses go to my e-mail but lately they don't... I have to log on the pond site again & find the responses to my posting. And I have asked about this twice now to the computer help section but no response yet!

Can't see 'some' replies in FF, but can see them using IE hmmm..

dwsam used HTML code in his post, but doesn't know the correct code. IE is much looser in what it allows, so even though it isn't coded correctly, IE displays it. The post starts with a link tag, but the tag isn't properly closed, so FF ignores it. If you view source and save it as dwsam.html, then edit it so that the <link . . . ends with /> instead of just > it will display in browsers that require proper html.

I'm always pretty lazy so I'd probably go to Adobe and use their UNINSTALLER to remove Flash Player, then reinstall the most current version. And hopefully, that will make youtube work. Here is a link that might be useful: support/flashplayer/downloads.html

Right after I posted this I switched to IE and the video played just fine. Then I saw your responses so I downloaded Adobe Flashplayer. I still can't see the video when I watch it via Firefox. IDK. Any other ideas?

Try Firefox in safe mode (all add ons disabled). That mode is listed under the Help menu.

I'm thinking that it's an add on. You've already cleared browsing history, right?

How about Foxit Reader, maybe? Tools, options, applications.

I have it and can see the video.

Thanks, I'll try your suggestions in the morning. At least I got to watch the show on IE.
