Something wrong with Avast Web Shield?

I've got 4 infected pages alerts from Avast Web Shield within the past 5 minutes.. a couple were 'malware detected' and a couple were 'trojan horse blocked'. These are pages I normally check during the day (a trivia game, Wellspere and a thyroid forum). I can't imagine that there is really a problem with them.

Avast seems to be working fine otherwise. I am using Windows 7 and Firefox.

False positives maybe??

Up -Date and run a Malwarebytes scan for starters. See if shows anything.

On the pop ups it says 'HTML:RedirME-inf (trj)'. This is a trojan or malware?

don't think I make myself very clear to you computer whizes. I had a problem before Christmas, where as I was sent to the Landown (sp) forums. I was getting the help I needed until I could not log onto the internet anymore and there were various other problems. I have HAD an external hard drive connected for about 6 months, where everything was backed up. I took my computer in, and they told me I had a bad hard drive, so I had it replaced and also I TOOK my external hard drive in also. Now I don't understand why MS Office was not on the new hard drive, I called them and they said that is common. also I did not understand where my music went unless I FORGOT to back it up, but I did back up Windows Media Player, where I thought all my music was safe. Now we are at the problem with the Red Shield for Windows Security,the date and time on the computer was wrong and I fixed that. I will just leave this here, and thanks for the help. PK

try using this program to uninstall it then install your proper version of MSE (be sure you get the one for your version of windows) free AppRemover utility since it is an xp computer you will need to be sure you do not get the 64 bit option. Security Essentials 4.2.223 XP Please check to make sure he is able to get windows updates and also he is able to create restore points. There is an infection we have seen that causes you not to be able to and it also disables the antivirus so just want to make sure. I would also install and run the free malwarebytes and run a full scan just to be sure. It is a program I think everyone should have on their pc, update an run the scan every couple of weeks. Annoying music when I view Garden Web

Unfortunately, that's not happening for me. :( The music is on everything I click. I cannot keep my speakers off because I have work that needs to be done and I need to know when emails come in (I have that "you've got mail" alarm that I can hear anywhere in the house. Therefore, I have to close off GW when not in use ...which is a quick look. Can anyone tell me how to block the music? I am going to start a new thread about the painting since I am not getting any responses. hahaha The good news is that I am liking the garage doors better this morning. The plastic paint shields have been taken off, hardware re-installed and the shutters are going up. When all done, I will post before and after picks of the house. The back of my house with new pergola and screened porch are also being painted. I'll probably wait and post one big thread of the new transformation of my exterior. :)

I removed Avast and reloaded it and now the message stays up longer so I an report more detail. ''Web Shield has blocked access to this page because the following certificate revoked:idvisitor.slate.com.'' Posted by snidely (My Page) on Wed, Jan 28, 15 at 23:19 Have you -cleared the cache? -rebooted the PC? -tried a different browser? Yes, yes and yes. Message from Avast, only with Firefox and random places on Slate.

Okay, ran Malwarebytes and that came up clean. Ran my AV and there was 870 infected pages which were put into the Avast chest. Ran a slower scan at Avast and this time nothing was found, but a few pages couldn't be opened. Just clicked on my trivia game and no pop-up this time... so hopefully the problem has been taken care of.

You're not alone. I also began receiving multiple Avast reports of blocked malware and trojans late this afternoon. It said the infection was:

HTML:Script-inf

I updated Malwarebytes and began a full scan. In the midst of the scan, Avast popped up and said something to the effect that it wanted to do a boot scan. I let it.

It reported:

C:\CMPNETS\MEDIACTR\I386\MEDIACTR.CAB:>medcthlp.cab:>rmtview.chm:>htm\accessibility.htm is infected by HTML:script-inf

There were several options and I chose "Move to Chest". The response was:

"Move to chest: ERROR 42111 (the operation is not supported for this type of archive.)

I selected Escape, the computer rebooted, and I ran a full Malwarebytes scan. It found no infections.

My computer seems to be back to "normal".

HP XP Media Center; SP3, FF 3.6.16, Avast 5.1.889, MAM, ZA, SAS, Spybot SAD, Spyware Blaster

It's likely a false positive. There's literally HUNDREDS of people on Twitter complaining of the same issue,

Problem was with bad Avast update (110411-1). Check your Engine & Definition update status and if you have that one, run another update.

I had trouble getting an update this afternoon shortly after 3PM EDT. I kept getting an error (403, I believe). I gave up and later did a manual update which went just fine.

Problem I had with the error 403 must have been sorted out yesterday as I got my update on the 12th
