shortcut won't work

HP pavilion, running W 7. Have had a shortcut icon on desktop for HP Photosmart 3.5 Essentials. It just quit working - I get this message. hpqpse.exe has been moved or changed.

Tried to launch the program from the file, but got the same message. Help, anyone?

I have had that happen and I just find the original program and right click and make another. I think they somehow get corrupted.

I just reread your post I think you said you tried the original software and it didn't work. If it were me I would just reinstall it. I am sure someone will come along with some better information.

Interesting. You are saying you went to Windows Explorer/C: program files/hp whatever/start the program.exe? Do you have Windows Explorer set to show the 3 digit suffix of files to know you were trying to activate an executable file?

As Emma notes you could re-install the program but it seems a few folks are having difficulty with that even.

What are you using the program for? That is not a silly question as I believe it is not needed to run an HP printer so perhaps you are using it to create something other than a plain photo to print. My point is that perhaps an alternative program like Irfanview might be suggested if re-installing becomes a challenge for you.

Most likely something is keeping it awake processing. Maybe it you havent already .. set the screensaver to two minutes or something short,,, and if you leave task manager open and select cpu menu probably twice to bring most active cpu users to the top then press the 'Show processes for all users' Keep an eye on it... should have idle processes showing something like 98% at top.... its the items just under that that might show cpu activity ... that would be the likely cuplrit.... (i usually highlight the next item and watch it bouncing).

Just to clarify - in plain english... Typically, you only have 1 live wire coming into a box with 2 switches. That live line is split and then goes to both switches - usually via 2 short wires. If you just hook the live wire to the first switch, then the second switch doesn't get power. Also, your husband may have done everything "right" and then knocked something loose while trying to stuff the wires and switch back into the box. If he isn't familiar with electrical work, the connection to the switch may not have been solid enough to withstand pushing it back in. That is actually pretty dangerous, so someone needs to open it back up and fix the problem asap.

Have you tried rebooting? Check for Windows Updates too. Another keyboard shortcut is to use the backspace key to go back, shift+backspace will go forward. Are you sure there's a page to go back to? If a link opened in a new window or tab, you won't be able to back up. Click the button to the right of the Forward button and it'll give you the recent pages history. You can also use that to select the page you want. Only other thought off the top of my head is, have you noticed a bunch of dog treats being delivered lately? Maybe Harry and Sam have been...

It's a short cut by the electrician (probably the builder). The only other way would likely be to have an extra wire in the box pig tailed to this wire (cut in to two). There's nothing in the code that prohibits this practice. Some inspectors might have an issue, but there's really nothing wrong with it. This isn't your problem. I don't think that's a traveller wire. You'd not hook a traveller up this way (it only connects from one switch to another. This is almost certainly a hot wire that feeds this switch and then proceeds on to some other device.

Irfanview is a very nice photo editing software. It does everything I need except to erase an occasional object in a picture. I was paying a big price for Roxio but will not replace it when the time comes.
