I checked to see what all was listed and checked in my startup menu and wasn't sure about them, since I'm not very savvy with a computer. I googled APSDaemon and from what I gather, I do not need that checked in startup. I'm not sure about this one: jusched. I googled it and it said it is an updater for java. I have SecureIT virus protection and would assume that the updates they do would cover the java updates. Can someone tell me if that is correct and if I can safely uncheck the jusched? Thanks for your help! You people are a godsend to those of us who are basically computer illeterate.

If you want to remove the java automatic update checker.. change the java setting in your control panel is the proper way so you dont get errors when jave tries to find it.

But then you have to keep up on java updates by reading alot of tech sites. They put out security fixes sometimes & well as normal program updates.

ASPdaemon is for an ipad or some apple product you have. It maybe cease to share would be my guess. daemon usually refers to a server product so it maybe is how your computer & apple device talk to each other.

very serious infections are coming from java flaws so if you are not good on constantly checking for those updates I would leave it alone and let it do it's thing. If you don't know what it is for sure please do not alter it.

I recommend Black Viper site for looking up info on the proper way to alter start up programs and for identifying what they are. It is best to do it through services.

Do you mean the menu ripples like water when it opens or does it build upwards in waves? What computer is it and how much memory (RAM) does it have? Perhaps you have a background program hogging your resources and slowing things down. Hold down both the Alt and CTRL (Control) keys and tap the Delete key to bring up the Task manager. The Applications tab will show what you have running and across the bottom of that menu you will see how many processes are running and your CPU usage. If the CPU usage is higher than you anticipate click the Processes tab and scroll down the list looking for what is using the CPU. This is a moving target. Mine typically uses from 6% to 100% but I know why that is and unless you are doing distributed computing yours will be much more stable than that.

Hi dudsiam, I followed mikie's suggestions. In that same frame of notifications tab I see "icons" and under that "system icons". In the "icons" area I have "customize" to the right of "hide inactive icons". If you click this customize option, you should be able to individually choose which icons you would like to "hide" or "show". Thanks for posting this question. I have been wondering how to make my ISP icon show upon start, instead of waiting for it to happen on it's own. Hope this helps you some!!! Sure helped me! Donna

I think what you're looking for is start > run then type msconfig in the box and click ok. Now click on the startup tab. When I want something to startup that's not there I right click on the start button, click open on the context menu double click programs and then double click startup. If you drag a shortcut to a program in there it will start when you start your computer. Hope this helps.

sorry I am late getting here but see you got your answer so that is good. Yes you really do need to put ad block plus and the easy list on your firefox since you already use firefox. Just go here to the ad block plus and click add to firefox you will then have to shut down firefox and restart then go here and under easylist click where it says add to adblock plus to add the easylist subscription then it is a good idea to restart firefox one more time. Adblock Plus 1.3.3 then this EasyList
