I am always amazed when people say they have loads of photos or music that they do not want to lose or cannot replace yet have never backed up these valuables. If your hard drive fails tomorrow you have a very real problem. You are not alone in this and I am not trying to be mean spirited but if you fail to look after you and your possessions then who will? For less than $50 you can buy a name brand DVD-RW and for under $20 you can buy 100 blank DVDs. You can buy a lesser amount of blanks of course, that is a choice you can make. The DVD will come with software you install to use it. Or if you already have blank CDs you could use those in the DVD burner. If you back some of that stuff up and remove it from this computer it may well run faster because you will have more free space on the hard drive for the swap file to work better. Does your activity light come on frequently and stay on for long periods? If so this is an indication the swap file is have a problem. Then if you really want to get carried away you can visit Big Lots where they have (or did recently in the Buffalo, NY store) CD or DVD labels and the software to create your own labels for $10 or $11. Another option would be to install this hard drive as a slave in the new computer you intend to buy. You would need to check that there are compatible data connections in the new computer. Older hard drives are IDE or ATA but the newer and faster technology is SATA.

There are a couple of dirty ways of doing it. Open your address book, right click on the first address click 'copy'. Paste into your word processor. Repeat for all names. Now you need to clean up the document to your own liking and save. Or next time you send to everyone include yourself. Use CC, not BCC for the addresses. When you receive your copy open it. Now click on the first name in the CC list to highlight it, hold the 'Shift' button and tap 'End'. You now have the top row highlighted so right click anywhere along that line and click 'Save'. Now you can paste this into a word processor. Repeat till all lines are done. (Going to full screen helps here because you get more names per line) Save the document, sort it out and save again. Messy but ... LOL.

Thanx, Bob. I was really afraid of what Randy and Mikie were saying. I didn't want to challenge it, but I sure haven't cancelled my DSL yet LOL. I can access my mail through both my ATT/Yahoo home page & mail page and through Yahoo and Yahoo recognizes me, but Yahoo does not control my email account. Not where access is concerned, only the technical aspect. It might stay there forever, but whether I will be able to access it is another question after ATT cuts me off. I really appreciate each of you trying to help. Wish there were some way I could just do a forward in batch, but I guess not. Thanx again.

Not up on the easy transfer cable, you might want to investigate the transfer speed... but think you will find it slower than a regular network connection ... Inexpensive network switch and a couple of cat5 patch cables maybe lots quicker. Quick look at newegg I saw a network switch for $9.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166034 Plain old usb wifi network adapters in ad-hoc mode run 11mbs and newegg and others usually have name brand ones for a wireless connection at $20 each. Sometimes close outs for less.
