Do I need all these Adobes?

Posted by secsteve (My Page) on

I'm in the process of cleaning out unneeded programs, and in the control panel, I've come across the following Adobe programs. I have no idea why they were loaded and I don't use any of them as far as I can tell.

They are:

Adobe AIR; Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX; Adobe Flash Player Plug-In; Adobe Reader and under that Adobe Reader 9.5.3-CPSID_83708.

I use Windows XP SP3,

Can I remove these programs and not interrupt anything?

If you want to view videos in your browser, you probably need Adobe Flash Player. If you download-view-print .pdf files, then a .pdf reader is a good thing to have, but it doesn't necessarily HAVE to be Adobe Reader...there are others. Many people claim Adobe Reader is a problem for them, but it's never caused me any trouble. You probably don't need Adobe Air unless you have a program which requires you?

Thx azinoh for your response.

Yep, do view videos in Google, so will keep Flash Player. I too, never have had a problem with Adobe Reader. As for the Air program, I can't think of any program that I have that requires it. Of course, if I do have and it pops up later, I can always reload Adobe Air if need be.
