Messed Up Defaualt Programs = Help!

I changed something in my default program and now I have a mess.

I want to use Firefox but can't find any of my bookmarked favorites. All I keep getting is this Yahoo stuff and its driving me crazy.

I used to have Explorer and Firefox but don`t have Explorer now.

My Email is disabled.

Can someone help me get back to normal.

you can not remove Internet explorer so it is definitely still there.
It sounds like you are talking about your homepage which you had set on firefox has now changed to yahoo? if so that is not a problem just go to the page you want to use as your homepage then in firefox go to tools options, on the Main tab you will see the options for home page just click the one that says use current page, that is also where you will find the return to default option.

What did you change? where in what program.
what email?
you need to give us info to work with what exact programs what exact email etc.

I agree with RC. I read this thread last night and I wasn't sure what the problem(s) were so I passed it by. Even if you are of limited experience with your system, please take your time and share more information.

Our crystal balls are not available until Spring.

you need to choose the IE flash player to download with IE and you need to choose the firefox version and download it with firefox if you use those browsers, You must get the proper version and use that browser to download and install. when you go to that link Zep provided called reinstall flash you will see which browser it is for if it is not the rigth one then you see that link that says Different operating system or browser? click that and it will offer you the links to the other options you could run the Secunia OSI and it will tell you what needs updating nad also provide the link directly to it. for any of these make sure any extras are unchecked including on the download page any thing McAfee or Norton related. Messed up my computer big-time

Thought I'd update. Got Windows installed without a hitch, Dell talked me through it. I debated whether to put Win 7 in since I was starting from scratch but worried some of my software might not work Everything went well except I couldn't find drivers for some things such as my wireless adapter so couldn't get on line. Called Linksys and they spent over an hour trying to get the driver in and finally did. That was the best part, finally getting on line and getting hit with a zillion MS updates. I have misplaced or lost some software. We moved here in March and I could not locate my Office disk, wireless mouse/keyboard software and a few other things, might have gotten lost in the move. I'm most concerned about Office 07. I paid for it. Dell says they can't help and I could try contacting MS and see if they would do anything. I haven't moved any of my files back yet. Otherwise, I feel like the computer runs better than when it was new. Things seem different, have to fool with fonts and views, but I'm amazed how effortlessly the machine runs. This computer always seemed to have a few 'glitches' but I was used to it. Now it seems so fast and smooth (of course there isn't much running on it yet.) I don't know how to thank everyone for all the support and help I received. You are the best friends anyone could ever ask for. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks! Someone's Word has messed up mine

"Shut down" any program means to make that window active and then click the x at the upper right hand margin. Then shut down your PC, start it up again once it's fully off, and restart Word. I think what you're experiencing is sometimes when you open a file that has settings that are different from your own personal defaults, they stay active until you open one of the preset templates that have been established for your own Word installation. I'm a Word novice, and I could be using the wrong words, but if you go out and come back in again, I think you're find it back it's gone back to "normal".

I messed up my printers....I need help...long

What IowaGirl and ChemoCurl wrote will work. It's the only way to cancel your print job. Unplugging the printer won't do work because the computer will continue spooling the print command. So, cancel the print as explained above. The problem is it takes so long for it to cancel, so you will have to restart the computer for the cancel command to take effect. The dreaded problem I have with WindowsXP is doing it the one time doesn't work. If the first time doesn't work, restart the computer and do it a second time. Then restart again. Otherwise, you just have to sit and wait for the print job to cancel.

Thank you for reading my unruly message for help. I didn't know that Firefox had done an upgrade so when I logged onto the internet I got this whole new screen and Firefox asked me if I wanted to upgrade. I said okay and then the fun began.

Today I went into my McAffee and did a system scan and they fixed one issue. Then I did a "cleaner" on my system and finally was able to get on through Internet Explorer. I guess I will stay here as everything is available except my mail. I use Windows Mail and when I try to access my emails it tell me it has been disconnected.

At least it wasn't spam. In my momment of terror, the first place I wanted to be was here where all you really good people help idiots like me. Thanks again.

It sounds to me, like you still need some help. Something is causing your windows mail to have problems, and something is causing your problem with Firefox. Until these problems are fixed, you will continue to have problems.
