No email link on members pages-no way to email them
Comments (15)Well, I am still one of those without my personal e-mail addy listed on my member page, but can have e-mail sent to me through GW. In the past, I have had my addy listed and have had serious problems with spam mail that comes from other forums on GW. Since I post on quite a few of the other forums on GW, I found that some of them do have their fair share of spam type posts; advertising for various websites, products etc. When my e-mail addy was available for anyone to see, these posts would pop up on these other GW forums and within an hour or so I would have the spam coming to my e-mail box about the product, site etc. Once I realized where all this spam was coming from, I removed my addy from my member page, and that was the end of the spam coming from here. Hope you all understand why I no longer have my e-mail addy available to see, but as I said, you can send it through GW and I would say that 95% of the time I don't have a problem getting it. Comments (12)I had the same thing happen. Contacted Garden Web about a year ago and someone wrote back it had to be a problem on my end; probably my internet provider blocking the emails. Didn't make sense. When GW asked for suggestions on how to improve their website a few months ago I tried again and sent an email to webmaster@gardenweb.com with Attention Tamara in the subject line. After much testing with permission to temp change my password she and her team were able to figure it out. Here's what she emailed me regarding the reason : "There was a glitch that allowed someone to register for your membername. Once they registered, they couldn't use the name, but it sort of confused the database. LOL. You could still continue to post, but when it needed to send email, for instance, it didn't know where to send it. That's sort of a simplified way of breaking it down. Once we removed the other account, everything fixed itself." I also couldn't save clippings. I'd click to save it would take forever to get the message that it was saved and also take forever to pull up my clippings and even though it said saved it wasn't in there. After she fixed my email problem the clipping problem also resolved. So maybe you have something similar going on. Try Tamara. Good luck....See MoreNice Litte Story I Received in An Email
Comments (12)That story may or may not be true but this one of mine really is! On our Lunar New Year, we normally pass on to younger ones red envelopes that are filled with money. This is to wish for a year of prosperity and blessings. We also give one to our parents. In my family, this tradition changed a bit. We mix in lottery tickets or scratches with the money for fun. A couple of years ago, close to the date of our Lunar New Year, I stopped by a gas station to fill up and at the same time, to get some lottery scratches. As I was paying for it, a teenage girl came in and asked the cashier to set her pump for $1 gas. With a surprised face, the cashier took the dollar at the same time asked: "only $1?". The girl explained that her sister just got her 1st paycheck and they were on the way to cash it. All they needed was enough gas to the bank and will have more cash for gas later. I looked at their car and there were about 4-5 young girls together. This gas station was in the middle of nowhere. I thought to myself that with $1 gas, a bit less than 1/2 gallon, may not have been able to take them far enough and with a car full of young girls, they may ran into danger. While the girl was heading to the pump, I gave the cashier an extra $5 and asked him to add it to the girls' pump. As I got into the car, the teenage girl caught up with me and thank me. I told her to take care and be careful then I headed home. I don't buy lottery often but when I do, I buy one for myself. So, after dinner that same day, I scratched one for me and guess how much I won?... Yep, $5! When I'm lucky, I usually get only $1. This was the only time that I won more than $1. In reality, what goes around DOES come around!...See MoreWhat's the best way to go so I don't get Screwed..
Comments (16)"So him coming over and putting glue down the crack and putting wood putty in isnt an acceptable fix that will last? we paid 37k for these floors!!" Oh my...NO! Bad installer BAD! No biscuit for you! Bad! Oy vey! Where to start? I would buck up the few hundred dollars ($300 - $700 is common) for an NWFA Certified Wood Flooring Inspector (www.nwfa.org to find your nearest professional). The reason we are suggesting to SPEND more money to get an inspection is thus: NWFA Inspectors will write a COURT-READY document (this is where the money goes...into the TIME to write an inspection report that WILL be ready for court) pointing out the issues with the floor. The report will not specifically state 'the guy is an idiot' but it will point out all the ISSUES with the floor. And from the many issues pointed to, any 'reasonable person' (ahem...that has legal implications btw) can/will deduce the installer is at fault. This report is NOT to take the installer to court. It is to FORCE THEM into redoing the floor without costing you any more money! You will use this report as a MASSIVE stick. Any installer with an ounce of intellect will RECOGNISE the seriousness of an NWFA report. They will know you mean business! And their @ss is on the line if they do NOT correct their issues. So...the next question becomes did you purchase the wood AND the service from a single source? Like a one-stop-shop like a Ma-and-Pa hardwood flooring store that also installed it with THEIR crew? Or did you source the wood and then source the crew? The 'company' that you hired, are they a General Contracting company (will rebuild showers, install mirrors and put in hardwood floors when asked)? Or are they SPECIFICALLY 'hardwood floor installers'? Please reach out to the nearest NWFA pro to arrange for (and pay for) the inspection. This will give you the big stick you need to ensure the contractor (I doubt they are professional wood flooring installers...they don't sound like that type of company) does what is right. While you wait for the inspector to arrive, I HIGHLY recommend you start documenting your indoor living conditions. Investigate your HVAC system to ensure you have adequate humidity control (whole home humidifier/dehumidifier) so that you can prove your home is not doing 'all the damage' to the wood. You need to prove that your home has been maintained between 35% - 60% humidity for the ENTIRE TIME the floor has been installed. If you do not have a whole home humidity control system, you will need to purchase a few hygrometers (home depot = $35 each) to place in several rooms. Start keeping track of the humidity readings. The Inspector will need these readings to complete the detailed report (on a large installation a report can be 7-20+ pages long)....See Morelynnalexandra
