| Recently my computer crashed after downloading Feb.'s Security Updates. I had to do a System Restore in Safe Mode to get my computer back. Now, I can't get Avast to update. I updated and ran Malwarebytes, and it came up clean. I also updated SpyywareBlaster with no trouble. Avast scanned last night so it works. It just won't update. So, I downloaded the newest version. My question is: Should I remove the old Avast or just install over it? I think I know the answer, but I want to ask for opinions first. Can anyone think of a reason why it won't update?

| I'd use the Avast uninstall utility in the link provided to completely remove it since you're having up-date issues. Once that is done double click the set-up file and install that new version you downloaded. |

| I figured I'd have to do that. Thanks, zep, for the link. Dee |

| Mine updated to 6.0.1000 yesterday which called for a restart to finish. Now when I turn on my computer, I get a brown Avast icon on my desktop for which if I X it out, goes into my Gadgets? What is that all about? I never had that before? I have the orange color shortcut one. |
