Adobe Photoshop Elements 8

I have Windows 7 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 8. I can scan a picture on my HP 3200 and then when I make the scanned area fit the picture and use "Finish", the HP Scanner just sits there as though it wants to scan but never does. This used to work but it doesn't now. Does anyone have any ideas?

Do you still have the manual for the scanner? I assume this is a stand alone flat bed scanner? Might pay to remove the scanner program then re-install but check the manual to see if it is like the printers where you should not connect it to the computer until the program prompts you. Possibly a corrupt file there somewhere.

If you don't find what you're looking for, you might want to try the GIMP. The interface is odd, but it is free and if you don't like it or can't use it...you can always get rid of it. Here is a link that might be useful: GIMP for Windows

1. make banner, add text, etc. 2. Layer >> new layer 3. open .gif or .jpg you want to add 4. resize .gif/.jpg if it is too big 5. with .gif/.jpg image active, select all and copy 6. paste onto banner, use the mover tool to place .gif/.jpg where you want it 7. merge all layers

I'm not a pro but once I had been using adobe Photoshop cs6 and had to temporarily use elements I found photo tampering no longer fun. IÃ¢ÂÂm not saying Elements is a bad program; Elements is a great program. But CS6 is an awe inspiring program with endless capabilities! Yup the catch is itÃ¢ÂÂs also $800+ Most of us incl. myself can't afford. The good news is they have what is called the student / teacher edition thatÃ¢ÂÂs identical in every way but the price tag. So if you (or family member) are currently enrolled or employed (not just teachers) at any university just follow my link or give them a call they are very nice. I find Adobe products in general are very difficult to use...not intuitive at all. I'm a nurse...16 years in ICU using all sorts of monitors and equipment, so I don't consider myself a total dummy. I have been involved in Telephone Nursing for the past 16 years and have learned many programs to manage patient care and also to manage employees and projects. Everything I have learned has been in the office setting by osmosis or taught myself. I'm not an expert by any means, but I can catch on to programs and even write technical curriculum as needed...but Adobe...YIKES...it makes me crazy. I just had to learn a new program out of the Adobe Premier Pro CS3 over the last 2 days within a couple of hours. I built myself a guide with screenshots, but need to practice some more. Maybe after I get better with this video adaption program I will be able to use more elements in Photoshop...but I am a total hack in that program. I wish I had someone at home to show me how to use all these programs...I would be sooooo happy. But I can CROP damitall!!! LOL
