Windows XP Old (2005) Dell computer. I was getting a message that I was running out of space. I removed some programs that were marked as last used in 2005. Now, I can not go online. When doing a Network Diagnostics for Windows XP, I receive a message that says "Windows could not detect any wired or wireless network cards installed on your machine.". The wireless connection is still working, so I am able to use my iPad. What to do? Thank you for any help you can give. ML

I would try to do a Restore. If that doesn't work, does your PC have a built-in Recovery function? Or, do you have Windows CDs? You'll know for next time to never delete anything in the Programs folder. And, the date shown in the default view is the date modified (saved), not date last accessed. Assume that all main operating system files and utilities will have dates that are earlier than the date you bought the computer. Never touch 'em.

I rebooted and it seems fine now. Hooray! Thanks for taking the time to answer. ML

Good for you. Always remember a reboot is a basic first response to any operating concern. DA
