Never tried Coffecup myself as it is a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get drag and drop program) and I had distinct problems with it. If you can handle drag and drop it might do you you well
You might like the free Evrsoft 1st Page 2000. I used that for a few years and it can be set to beginner to advanced levels.
Thanks, Owbist. I'm reading up on Evrsoft. My understanding is that I need to use TextPad or NotePad (that I'm unfamiliar with) as opposed to Word (that I am comfortable with.) When I agreed to do this, I thought it would be as simple as copy & paste from Word.
Unfortunately it is more involved than copy and paste from Word.
To give you an idea of what html coding looks like just right click on an open spot on this page and in the pop up menu click to view the source code. The wording will vary depending on which browser you are using. Once you have the code in view scroll down to where the next is enclosed in left and right chevrons > and < - this is html
All you really need to create a web page is a simple text editor like Notepad but that approach tends to be a bit tedious. In older versions of Office you could save a document (or spreadsheet) in HTML but Office inserted a lot of extraneous code that played hell with browsers other than I.E. Perhaps newer versions of Office are better???
I've used both SeaMonkey and Kompzer and they work ok. At least you get a visual environment with those. The gold standard is really Dreamweaver but it's very expensive.
It might not be a bad idea to pick up a few books on basic HTML or visit many of the tutorial sites on the web.
