| I mentioned the subject before as my screen shows a pop-up when it is done with its back ups.
This morning I took heed of Raven's advice and installed Malwarebytes, Super AntiSpyware Free, Secunia and tried EaseUS Todo Backup Free and it said my External drive is not protected. Can I use Malware on my D drive where the external drive is? Back to the Cobian Backup. The ERR bothered me and the fact that my computer would not go into sleep mode. I use FreeAgent GoFlex 2.0 as my external drive. The Cobian Backup popped up again with a log that you can see below. I would like if someone would analyze the logas it appears there backups that could not be done.
I tred to link it on the internet to my FreeAgent Go Flex portable drive but it is not a fit. On Amazon a reviewer of my external drive said he will use this Go Flex but will go back to using Cobian as a backup, I looked up this free software at http://www.cobiansoft.com/ and did an internet search on it as well There is lots of info. This is today's log that I could capture: 2012-03-21 07:00 This might be only a fragment of the log file. To see the whole log file, select Log-Open log files

I am sorry that I brought up this subject but it is a problem as I own it goes with nothing I have including the external drive. I worry that it will cause conflict with other programs. I have a foggy brain now and I don't know when it is appropriate to stop asking for help. I asked a lot of you and there may be a cut off that I should understand. It is, of course my fault, because this happened before when I got to a critical point in a graphics link. It was a weekend and that has to be the worst time here. I ended up going to a computer service and they did find the problem. If you are not interested in the question do you ignore it, wait for a knowledgeable person to step in or let time go buy and I will understand. My manners concerning forum etiquette are a mess as I have proven lately.

Ellie it is not question of "if we are not interested do we ignore it" It is more a case of no one having had experience with the program you are currently referring to. No point trying to answer if we have no information on which to based our reply. Never be afraid to ask questions, that is how people learn mostly while some do lurk in various forums gaining information from questions asked by others. And there is nothing wrong with your forum etiquette. The log in your original post on this thread suggests at the very bottom that the backup was completed successfully. Those errors appear to refer to a shadow copy Cobian likely created and disposed of once the back up was done. I assume since your computer is fairly new you are using Windows 7. If so why don't you use the back up program provided with Windows 7? Just curious.

Owbist, thanks. Yes, I did use the back up programs and malware programs as Raven suggested and backed up everything on an external drive. There is an automatic backup on Win 7. I want to get rid of Cobian if it is a mutant program that could cause interference. I don't know how it got on my computer and it makes itself known every day. I also don't know how to read the Cobian log. Phrases like access denied and couldn't copy the file bother me when I am trying to be conscientious. Also, when using EaseUS Todo Backup Free it said Go Flex -my external USB is not protected. Do I protect it by checking often for viruses with Kaspersky anti virus or should I have some protection program added to the external drive? Those are my concerns as I try to keep up with maintenance. Thanks for your patience with me.

Lets try 1 thing at a time, Remove Cobian Backup by manual means 1) Click on the "Start Menu" and find and click on "Control Panel". 2) When you are in the "Control Panel", find the "Add / Remove Programs" tab and click on it. 3) Now you'll see a huge list with programs, applications and software programs. Now you've got to find the Cobian Backup and select it. 4) Once you've found it, hit the uninstall button and confirm that you want to uninstall the program. 5) Now the uninstall process will start. Keep in mind that this can take a little while. Let us know when that's complete.

Aw, Zep, good to hear from you.You worked hard and long on a problem I had a couple of years ago. Hangin' in here for the praise and adulation after saving another soul, are ya. Yes, I uninstalled it per your instructions. Glad to have your permission to do it. Better to ask first, huh? From the date it was installed, 1/21/2012, I can tell that the computer tech who fixed my computer at their store was the one who installed Cobian and caused this fussiness of mine.

I'll look into the external drive question.

Thanks so much, dear man.
