Are any of you getting a Google ad between about the 5 and 6th post....

I get an empty space between the 5th and 6th header on the main page Gene. Using Adblock prevents the ad from loading. This is with Firefox and Opera.

This does not seem to happen in the threads.

That's a relief! Thought it was my laptop playing up...get that empty space in same position on every thread on every site in GW.

@Mrs. S $25 is a going rate in my area for entry-level workers. If an artist is 45 years old and has been working commercially for many years no doubt they make more. I would pay more for experience. I have no doubt that your business-savvy kids make $35. I just searched Nextdoor for faux painters and that listed commercial businesses. I will contact those too. I work with commercial gardeners all the time. Most of these "gardening" businesses are lawn sweepers and garden hackers. If I give them a project to install an irrigation line they are okay. If I give them a more nuanced project to mix up a custom soil mix using a careful formula of ingredients in bins that I store, they mostly get that wrong. These businesses want to come in to "do a project" at a time that is convenient for them, bringing in three or four people to just bang it out and then they leave. It's not what I want or need. I currently have a list of about 34 tasks to get done around my garden, and I just want a task-oriented person to hang out with me a few times a week banging out those projects, but taking the time to improvise, correct when there are problems, and just work through in a way that is convenient to my schedule. Gardening businesses are not structured to loan you out one person on a time and materials basis. Everything is about defining projects, which to pay for their crew of three or four people requires a higher project cost. I totally understand if you are a tech worker making a million dollars a year that you will just pay a landscaping firm $100K and they will do whatever they do. It's not what I am looking for. I have some simple garden elements in my garden that are extraordinary, and I did not get that by hiring gardeners. I got those elements by doing experiments and making dozens of mistakes until I found designs that worked for the area in question.

Same here with empty space using Chrome and adblock and adblock plus.

Firefox with adblock plus and easylist takes all the ads away all I see is the blank spot

Yes, just got this new laptop and didnt realize or forgot about adblock...still cannot normally open any threads, have to right click then select Open

I've just started getting that "blank-space" too after 5 or 6 thread-tiles!! My adblock is stopping something too I s'pose?!?
This started for ME anyway, when that damn "script warning" stuff started too. I have to click a thread/link twice to get the script window to come up.
I've been running Firefox 10.0.2 under XP.

My unresponsive script is this, if it helps anything?!?!:

If I ever decided to start using Ad-block, this site would lose a lot of it's entertainment value. I could live with the ads if they would at least work properly, but the fact that they don't proves to me that this site is rapidly becoming an epic FAIL. NO other site that I visit gives me as many script errors and Flash plugin crashes as does GW...and I go to a lot of web sites.

If that wasn't enough, I wish I could learn the behind-the-scenes story of how GW chooses to show me the ads I get. Why they think I would possibly be interested in prenatal & postnatal yoga counselling in a town over 100 miles away is quite beyond me. I find it hard to believe that the customers who are paying GW to do these ads are actually getting any bang for their buck.

It says I'm in Twinsburg OH, which must be where my ISP is pulling an ip from...but of course I don't have any control over that. Sorta makes the whole process pointless for me.
