Downloading super AntiSpyware and

And it's asking me if I want to allow it to make changes to this computer. How do I answer this query?

What is asking.. WinPatrol ?
WinPatrol asks approval of any changes to startup or services.

If you downloaded from SuperAntiSpyware site direct , it should be OK.

I did the download direct from SAS. Not familiar with WinPatrol. I'm expecting a book on Win8.1 for Seniors, surely I'll get it today or tomorrow. I've too many questions.

And now for the first time in over two years, I'm having a problem with the iPad, email is locked. Gotta figure that out now, thinking I'm too old for this computer technology!!!

Hi, zep, I can get my definitions update...I am thinking that this pop up is notifying me about a software update? I'm sorry, I wasn't clear on that. exgm, I followed your link and I am set up as a home group. I am the only administrator as far as I know. When I first set up the computer, the setup process asked me to type in my name...I thought that was naming myself as the administrator? ...I was doing some looking around to see if I could provide any more information. I opened up Properties for SAS and there is a tab there titled COMPATIBILITY. I opened it and there is a checkbox there that says Run this program as an administrator. Will it solve my problem if I check it?

owbist is absolutely correct. Sometimes a program can get corrupted or a file in it gets corrupted and in those cases it is usually best to just do an uninstall/delete from add remove of the program and then just go download and install it fresh then try to do the updates. I have been using superantispyware for quite some time now and never seen that happen. Do you have your firewall set to allow superantispyware to access the internet? I would go into the settings and make sure you have that set to allow. Mine is set to allow so it never has to ask permission for that program.

W7 & W8 has a built in sandbox type program called "steady state" many do not know exist on your PC it prevents change to the PC by maleware, it is configured into the guest account of every Microsoft PC, however when you set up your PC up the guest act. is disabled so to use this feature you must enable guest account, then log out of admin: act. and login using guest act. Then when something trys to install or get in, a message will pop up that unless you provide admin. rights it will not install. If you do want to install a printer or software, you must log out and come back in using admin act. Or you can simply download Sandboxie, which isolates your browser and prevents maleware or pop ups from getting in and it's Free I've added the link to it below. If you are having troubles with Superantispyware then perhaps load the free Malwarebytes? Same soup, different gravy really.

some antivirus software makes you answer everytime you open a program
this usually get less frustrating over time, since you will give it permission for each program you use. after a few days, you usually use most of them, and it stops asking.

I am tinking this may be why your email is "locked"
you either answered NO for it, or, for some other reason it isnt giving your email permissions to open.

You may have to go into the antivirus menu/settings
people always forget to do that.

It sounds like the same message I got when I installed superantispyware (or any new program) on Windows 8, asking permission from administrator user account? I said yes (as long as it's being downloaded from the superantispyware site - as was advised above).

I get this message with my Windows 7 computer...if I update a program, I get the message. Since I "am" wanting the update or whatever, I answer, yes. It was unnerving at first, but I figured if I "was" making some sort of change, that is what I should do.

It happens because Windows 7 and 8 don't run in administrator mode (even if you are logged in as an administrator) by default. You should be prepared to allow it when installing software or making system changes. This is for our protection so we don't inadvertently install something that we didn't intend to install.

I believe your concern is with the W8/8.1 UAC (User Account Control). Take a peek at the link below. Down the page a little is a pink warning box. The next presentation is an example window of which I think you are referring to. If you wish to make any changes to the UAC the link shares all the options.
