If that's a paperclip you're clicking on that is an Attachment... Save the Attachment, Scan it with your virus checker... After your Save the file right click on it and go to Open with, it will have a list of the programs you have on your computer that will open the file... When it says: "This file does not have a program associated with it to perform this action. Create an association in the Folder options control panel." here's what you do... First check out the file extension, .jpg, gif or whatever... Then go to Control Panel, Folder Options, File types... Scroll down the list until you find the right file Extension, left click on it once then left click on Change and pick a program to open that file, making sure you have a check mark in Always use the Selected program to open this kind of file then click OK... You'll only have to do that once with each different file Extension you run across... ( It's best to select a program that's listed under Recommended and usually the first one on the list is the one you have set to open other such files. ) Now then, if you go through all that and that particular file still does not Open it probably means that there is something wrong with that file or you have no programs that can open it and no matter what you do you will not be able to open that file... You probably don't have your folders "pinned" open - that is why you are not seeing the left pane. On the bar that is below the tool bar and the boxes that say "create mail, send/recv, etc., it will say OutLook Express or Inbox - depending on what part of OE you are in. Click on the down pointing triangle to open up the pane - click on the push pin to pin it open if you want. Follow the directions you have. You will be deleting your inbox, so make sure you have moved them to the temp folder before you do this, or you won't have them anymore. The instructions are not very clear on how to create a Temp Folder. When you have the folders pane open - just right click and it will give you a drop down with "New Folder" option. That is how to make the new folder - you can name it whatever you want. Do you let OE compact the files when it prompts you? Don't let your inbox get too full, and compact when it prompts you too. Hopefully your inbox won't get corrupted again. HTH

Try running the repair feature. It's under Tools or Help (I don't have access to Outlook right now). You'll need the original disc to run it. If you haven't, check for any updates too.

My only idea would be to check your junk/spam folder. If Facebook claims it sent an email to the Verizon mail server, whether or not it actually gets there should have nothing to do with your machine. Right? How are you checking your mail? Are you using a client such as Outlook or Thunderbird to read mail? If so, you might eliminate that variable by logging directly into Verizon's mail server.
