Best Buy -- really necessary or just upselling?

I went to buy a new laptop at Best Buy today. I said "I'll take that one" . Salesman walks over to the shelf and says "well, you can two choices -- you can get the one you want for $449 OR you can get the one you want with all the updates already downloaded and a ready-made restore disc for another $99." I say "huh?". Then I get a spiel about how it will save me from hours and hours of difficult updates and having to create a restore disc - again hours and hours of time and I probably don't have the skill to do it.

So -- is this a bunch of BS, or is it worth the $99 to have all updates completed and a restore disc all done. I feel pretty sure I could do this myself. I talked to others who have bought laptops recently and they also said "huh?"

I walked out without buying anything, since I didn't want to pay for something I probably don't need but I want to be sure before buying.

What should I do? FWIW, I was getting a Toshiba Satellite with i3 processor, 15.6 inch screen.
