Scanned photos from Australia
Comments (5)Sharon, it seems that's exactly how it's done. There are several threads with scanned flower photos on the Oz Garden Gallery forum. Here are the instructions that I found on one post: "RE: Revisiting old friend's scans - June assorted Posted by: TriciaC Vic. Australia (My Page) on Sun, Jun 5, 05 at 4:18 Hi Jan, Yes we all learned from each other in those days, as we are still doing... all you do is place the flowers face down on the glass of the scanner and leave the lid open. The flowers don't get crushed and it gives that lovely black background. Some of the girls used to use a sheet of light grey paper over the flowers and that gave a different aspect..." Sounds easy enough. Sharon, I thought you'd be the one who'd want to try this. And, you have enough variety in your garden to make beautiful compositions. I'll be watching for them!! Comments (2)May I make a couple of suggestions? When you start your scanning play a little first to get the feel of what you want to achieve. Then when you start the serious scanning consider saving as bitmaps - bmp - rather than jpg and as large as you can. I try to create 2 to 4 meg scans so that I have a good sized file to work on as Iowagirl suggests. You can then always make them smaller without loss of quality if you need to at any time. Also if you re-work any of them create a copy first so the original never gets messed up and is available. Is there damage other than fading to any of the photos?...See MoreScanning photos, resolution question
Comments (1)Might look at the link below... if your scanner software shows it.. apply a little sharping too. Now lets compare the resolutions from the chart above to a film scan. The chart below lists the resulting output resolution of a standard 35mm slide or negative. If you compare a 2000 DPI film scan to the output resolutions of TVs and computer monitors you'll see that a 2000 DPI film scan is more than sufficient for viewing on your computer or television. Comments (5)Yes, Urlee....I scanned the negatives just like a photo....I should have mentioned that they were black & white negatives, guess they hadn't invented color back then.....* G *.... I figured that if the Negative Image setting, under Adjust, would change a photo into a negative then maybe it would change a negative into a photo; & it did! Psp never ceases to amaze me!
