| I "defragged" a week or so ago, and immediately could no longer run certain things. For example, no YouTube videos, games (simple, Bubble-spinner type things), and other things of that nature. I either get a small red x or a message saying I need to upgrade my Adobe player. I've done that numerous times since. I removed it from my computer, then downloaded and got a dialog box saying it was successful.
I just tried again (because I couldn't play a video someone sent me), and it said the items are already installed (no, this one time I didn't remove them first; I wanted to see if they were really there). I've restarted, shut down and rebooted, etc., to no avail. Can you help? |
Follow-Up Postings:

| What's the operating system? You may need to run the Flash uninstall tool. Then reinstall flash. In between those 2 exercises I would run a temp file cleaner too. |
|
| I'm on Vista. Can you point me to Flash uninstall program? Do I find that at control panel? And then where do I find it to reinstall? I appreciate your response! |

| See link and good luck. Flash can be a problem |

| Thank you so much, zep. I'm off to give it a go. |
|
| Ok, done. Actually, that's pretty much what I did before. Still no good. :-( Woe is me. |
|
| I question how a defrag could cause this concern. Did you by coincidence just upgrade the Flash to the recently released version 10.2.152.26? If so, did you install the ugraded version using the appropriate browser for the appropriate version. Complete upgrade actually requires two downloads and installs; one for IE and one for other browsers. DA |

| Just to expand on DA's excellent advice. I will provide a link that explains flash plug in on firefox. I found that by a Google search --> Flash plug in firefox.....Probably do the same search for whatever browser. |

| Hmmmm....It was just because my defrag and the loss of the capabilities happened at the same time that I thought the defrag did it. Perhaps not. I didn't install anything intentionally (prior to this happening, that is), however yes, the version that I downloaded to try to fix the problem is the version noted above. I didn't see any choice for version; I downloaded what was there, at the "Download" button. I do use IE; would I still need another type of download to complete it? zeb, I'll go peruse your link now. Thanks. |

| you need to choose the IE flash player to download with IE and you need to choose the firefox version and download it with firefox if you use those browsers, You must get the proper version and use that browser to download and install. when you go to that link Zep provided called reinstall flash you will see which browser it is for if it is not the rigth one then you see that link that says Different operating system or browser? click that and it will offer you the links to the other options you could run the Secunia OSI and it will tell you what needs updating nad also provide the link directly to it. |

| Thank-you, raven! |
|
| Ok! Thanks for sticking with me here, folks. I'll give it a shot and report back. |
