Dell Printer V515w

Printer is about two years old. Printing sporadically - have to pull the plug on the computer and restart - printer will then work for a short time and then stops although it is still on. No error message. Checked all wires - everything seems fine. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
PS - unable to delete one print job on spool - don't know if that means anything.

Have you tried uninstalling the printer in accordance to Dell instructions, and then re-installing it?

Have you done Windows updates during the time this began to occur? Check with Dell as to whether you have the current version of the printer driver.

If you want to get rid of the old spooled job, I posted the instructions to delete a locally stored print spool on the linked topic, look for post 6 on Jan 26.

I am too sick to type all of that today.

Go into the printer set up on the Dell and be sure you have activated printer sharing from there. And then be sure you have checked the printer you want to use as the "default" in your Gateway printer settings.

Since you have had a problem with 2 printers now better start checking other things. 1 Check the print spooler service, make sure it's set to automatic. click on the Start button and select the RUN option from the start menu and type services.msc and click on ok. This will list out all the services. Now find print spooler and make sure its started. If not just right click on the option and start it and also set it as automatic.

I thought problem was solved as all of a sudden it started printing while I in another room?? Didn't use for a few days now when I try to print - just blank pages are printing. Printer is Dell V515w. When I hit print on the computer it indicates Dell V310 Series USB - which is highlighted. Under that Dell V310 - V510 Series.I hit print - then just blanks. I apologize again for my lack of knowledge. Thank you.

Was able to get rid of the old print job and did the windows up-dates but I don't have enough confidence to uninstall and reinstall the printer.

my jaw just dropped because uninstalling and reinstalling the printer is infinitely easier than deleting a spooled print job :-)

go into your Printers and Faxes or Printers and Devices folder, right click the printer and choose delete (XP) or Remove Device (7 and 8). Unplug the USB cable and restart Windows. Plug the printer back into the computer and follow the installation wizard. If prompted to pop in the driver installation disk, do so.

Not all printers are created equal. Some manufacturers are specific in the methodology of un-installing their printer.

To avoid any unnecessary concerns or extra procedures always review their website as to the specific model first. It only takes a few minutes and it can save hours of disappointment and headaches.

I searched high and low for the answer. I have a Dell also. My printer would print one page and never print the second until I rebooted the computer. It turns out windows update automatically updated my IE 10 to IE11. I use Firefox so never thought that could be my problem. I uninstalled IE 11, which then reverted back to IE 10 and now the printer is fine. Hope that is your problem too.
